Hi guys, I have been an on and off again lurker on these forums for a long time, looking at this mods progress over the years. I finally have some time to play it thoroughly, but I was wondering how to change the rate at which the mercenary company hire events trigger. I know for most of them the chance is 1% per turn and I have been trying to edit these values in the campaign_script.txt for the various mercenary companies in the line: “and RandomPercent = 1” and changing it to something like 99 to test if it works in a new grand campaign each time. So far the changes I make are having no effect.

I was wondering if any of you had any advice, information or instructions on how get this to work properly? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try deleting map.rwm in the maps/base folder after making your changes, so the game rebuilds it. Some changes to the campaign won't show up unless you do.

I tried deleting the map.rwm but it doesn't seem to work

I typed in 99% for all the orc&goblins merceneraises, 15 rounds in to the game i have gotten only 1 mercenary...

I haven't played the later versions but have you checked that one mercenary event does not cancel out the others? At least among the empires mercs there is this mercenary antipathy thing in 1.4. But if you are referring to both mercs and the special troops like shamans and so that shouldn't matter of course so it does sound weird.

Did you put it like this:
    and RandomPercent = 10

    or, this:

    and RandomPercent < 10

I think if you put it with "=", you need to roll number 99 out of 100 for it to work, but with "<" you need anything below it.

Worth trying, I'm not 100 % sure if it worked that way.
