A Dymaxian map would end the x y axis issue of flat maps. Any thoughts on getting map heights lined up in GIMP? One could sail anywhere. Some huge land masses might have a few regions while others many in a tight land mass. Some area excised as unrealistic based on time period. I think it makes it fun for exploring with the fog of war blackness turned on as we all expect the NSEW MAP.
I have often desired to do an alternative world CIV 3 mod with nearly all slave settlements, 1-2 settlements for 12 kingdoms (configurable by separate campaigns), and see how the map changes. Then shadow factions for those 12 possible when they get stronger and empire building.
A third of the map removed easily on the far x boundaries.Removing Australia (for that happened much later) removes a 1/4.
It's an AoR mod. Tech building changes units for no yew trees for England if in Brazil.
This map demonstrates the remarkable feat by Spanish conquest due to incredible distances.
