How to kill cataphract elephants?

I'm playing as Pergamon right now at H/M, and the Seleucid cataphract elephants are wiping out my entire armies. They just seems invincible:flaming arrows and javelins does absolutely nothing against them. I had 6 units of skirmishers dispensing their entire load of javelins unto them, and not a single one died. I had archers shooting flaming arrows at them for like 5 minutes, but their moral stayed at "eager" throughout, showing no sign of running amok. So how am I supposed to kill them? Is it supposed to be this way, or could something be wrong with the installation?

do you play 2.5 or 2.6?
this elephants were bugged statwise in 2.5 and become "panzer"
2.6 fixed this issue

OK, I feel like an idiot now: it turns out that while I had 2.6 installed, I was using the "Fewer stack, shorter battles" EDU made for 2.5. After changing the EDU to that of 2.6, the elephants become much more easier to kill, although still quite deadly.
