names under all characters, all the time

I am new to this, so sorry if this has been brought up before. I couldn't quite find any info on it. I recently installed this mod and the two patches to the proper locations, I'm using windows vista and I have the full M2TW + Kingdoms legally purchased through Amazon. The game is playing fine, other than some lagging when moving across the map. But the issue I'm having is that all the character names for generals, captains, diplomats, etc. are showing up all the time, creating quite a cluster of text when many characters are in the same area. Is there a known fix for this?

Just press Ctrl+N and they will disappear.
