    Basically, the title says it all. Just as battles are about to start, the camera zooms in on the two model on the campaign map, and then BAM, CTD. Also happens at the end of battles. This is quite frequent.

    This fact it happens during and after battles, and once happened during start-up, leads me to think it's the loading screens, which I've heard is an issue this mod suffers from. I have downloaded all three patches (separately), and the quickfix for 'inconsistencies in quotes.' I realised as I was doing it that I might have been doing it wrong, as I didn't fully understand the instructions. It says:

    simply extract into the ...\1648_2\data\text and text-EN folders if you use English
    Now, does that mean I extract it only into the text-EN folder, OR both the text folder AND the text-EN folder. I assumed the latter, so I extracted it separately into both. Did I do this wrong?

    I should also say, that's the only quick fix I downloaded. I use the English version, so I did not bother with the German quick fixes. However, I do get German quotes sometimes on my loading screens and I've seen at least one building description that was entirely in German. So should I have downloaded these? If so, I did not.

    I use Vista 32-bit, Steam version of M2TW (so, patched to 1.3), I installed in the proper place, etc. etc. Any help?

    Extracting it into both should not be a problem. Extracting it into text-EN should suffice if you afterwards chose English as your language.

    If you have followed this and that error log is all you get, then most likely you have set the battles and campaign at different resolutions in your video settings. They need to be both on the same resolution, otherwise you will get loading screen crashes.

    Yep, I've removed the hash key from the trace line and copypasta'd what appeared in my log after the most recent crash. What you see there is what I got.

    So it's resolutions, eh? Is that a problem caused by a faulty installation? Because I've never once touched anything to do with resolutions. I'll have a play around and see what I can find.

    I chose English as my language before I installed the quick fix, as I fired up the game pre-patches just to make sure it ran. Not sure if that makes a difference. Either way, thank you for setting my mind at rest about extracting it into both folders. I was worried I'd have to go in and remove stuff manually, so it's good to know I can just leave it all there.

    I've had a few more crashes since my last post. I had hoped the problem had sorted itself out but it hasn't. This is the log from the last one.

    I've checked my resolutions, and it's set to the same for both battles and campaigns. Could it be anything else?

    Four months later, are we any closer to understanding what's causing this? I'm still getting regular crashes when the game attempts to produce a loading screen.

    Crashes during loading screens before a battle were caused by a bug that was corrected in the fully patched game, unless you are using a submod or made changes yourself. If you have crashes before and after battles, this may be simply a memory issue, as the engine loads and saves files at those times. They happen more often with some mods than in vanilla. I expect that in that case having a reasonably sized RAM and closing other applications while playing the game should help.

    Also make sure you have the campaigns and battles on the same screen resolution.
