    Default Problem with Mapping

I have been trying to edit my existing map for SAI. This has included dividing Ireland into two provinces. I have followed the instructions for mapping but still continue to get CTD's with no error message. I even tried just changing the colour of the single province in Ireland, and editing the descr_regions.txt file to change the RGB values but still got a CTD on loading the campaign map. I ensured that the new RGB value was unique and a duplicate.

Can someone enlighten me on what may be happening as this is very frustrating.

    are you deleting map.rwm?

are you exceeding the 199 land + 1 ocean, region limit?

i just can guess, but sometimes even a new and unique rgb value leads to a ctd, when it is to close to another existing one, or the new province isnt full filled with the new colour, this causes also a crash

That makes sense. How can you make sure the province is completely filled?

since you just seperated a island into two provinces, i would more bet on my first point, for the second i would at first clearly cut away the area you want and than fill them up with the new colour, or for small regions, i prefer to take some pixels with the new colour and to fill the edges by copy and paste...sorry for my english
the problem with those pixels often nerves you on non straight borders zones, coastlines, lakes, where the greater mass is changed, but single pixels are still got the old rgb

At which point does your crash usually occur? Immediately after starting the campaign or at the end of the Loading Screen (or even sometime else)?

Is a new map.rwm always generated? Does it significantly differ in file size compared to unmodified SAI mod's map.rwm?

Did you modify text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt properly and have you checked it for spelling errors?

Which rebel faction did you specify in descr_regions.txt? Is it sufficiently defined in descr_rebel_factions.txt as well as text\rebel_faction_descr.txt?

Ultimately, upload your map_regions.tga (and for comparison, unmodified SAI's one) and paste your added region's entries in

    world\maps\base\descr_regions.txt
    world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaing\descr_strat.txt
    text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
    descr_rebel_factions.txt
    text\rebel_faction_descr.txt

files so we can check for spelling errors you might not have spotted.
