Total War: ROME II - Patch 17 BETA now available!

Hi all,

Just in time for the weekend we have some exciting news about Total War: ROME II for you - the public beta for the next Patch for Total War: ROME II is now available.

With this beta we’re aiming to solve some technical issues with the Mac version and some residual campaign and battle issues. This incorporates a large number of balance changes across the different playable factions in ROME II for both Mac and PC versions. These include alterations to unit rosters, building and resource effects, garrison compositions, culture and faction traits in all campaigns, and more.

I have to say, didn't see this coming at all. The patch notes look impressive. The UI theme selection, is that the same as culture-specific interfaces, or rather a selection of different ones that aren't to be affiliated with any one particular culture? (Would check for myself, if it wasn't for the graphics card getting fried the other day) Thanks for the patch also.

It's for the title screen. So it's likely for the main menu page when you open the game.

Yeah, never forget how people lied to make a case worse than it is, even if they themselves provided the footage that shows them to be lying (as in the battle in the video not having two thousand soldiers even if we combine both armies)...

I've played every TW since ME1 (i missed shogun 1) I have been playing Darth Mod Nappy for the past couple of months. Reinstalled this game and raged quit. Just a mosh pit are pure filth. I want a refund.

Have you even read the patch notes? Completely useless. So this is what CA comes up with after idk how many months. No one cares for vanilla rtw2 anymore, so if you are gonna patch it at least introduce some stuff for modders, like fix hardcoded stuff or make them moddable like paradox does.

As the title says, is it possible to avoid/prevent game from auto-updating to the latest patch and if it is how can I do that? Frankly I'm not so excited over the patch notes (some are nice though), so I would like to remain at current 16.1 patch if possible..

Go to Steam, right click the game and select properties. Under one tab there should be a drop-down menu where you can select not to keep the game automatically updated.

Anyone want to guess when the patch is released? (Based on previous patches). I'm away for the weekend after work and won't be coming home until Sunday, do I need to start my computer without internet connection in order to prevent Steam from immediately downloading the update upon booting? Though I don't expect them to release the patch this weekend.

Okay. It works for the mod I'm currently working. Not sure if there's any side effects later.

Why don't you let us alone and work on your next masterpiece?
I would bet that the mods, that makes this piece of crap half-way enjoyable will got issues again.
Maybe give us more like idle-traits, that broke the TTT-Mod, which was WORLDS above anything you ever did trait-wise in any of your games.

Simply leave it alone.
