It is said that the competition's submissions will be close on the 23rd. Can you specify at what time (UTC if possible to make thing easier for everybody)?

The competition will end on 23rd ideally close to the same time the thread was started, which would be around 6 PM (GMT+2). Artists ahoy, there's still time to jump in the wagon.

Well, I've managed to post my submission in due time but for an unknown reason, I can't make the background invisible, no matter which format I use. Strange

I think there was this issue with GIMP save options but that was quite simple to fix, gods if I would only remember where exactly. Anyhow, the current picture is saved as .jpg but only .png is able to have invisible backgrounds, but it seems that it didn't work for you.

I've just replaced my previous submission with a new one in .png. Still the same result. I can't understand why. I've fusioned all layers before saving as .png. No change. No matter what, the background is still there. The funny part is that if I import the pic in a Word document for example, the background is invisible. When I did a signature recently for somebody on the request thread, I made a model with the borders using a fusion mask. Once saved in .gif or PNG, it was fine. In this case, it's not.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 btw, not Gimp.

Sadly I don't have the new version so I cannot test myself. I tried to search the web for this transparency issue but I wasn't sure how they would work in your case. I'm truly hoping that there's a simply solution to fixing it.

Success!!!! Unfortunately, I just found out, too late for the submissions
That grey background supposed to be invisible was due to a "setting layer" to add some light effects. By adding the same fusion mask as for another layer, it has fixed the problem (hope I'm understable). The result can be seen here, "Competitions" section.

Lift - Sorry I didn't see your post before the deadline. I was going to suggest checking the settings on each layer, but it seems you found the issue. Good

I'm encountering the same problem again with my work request from the TWC Wiki team. Can you give me more details about what you mean by the layer settings? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've found a way around to fix my issue by re-downloading my pic and re-uploading it. That way, the background became transparent. But still, I can't understand why
Could this be due to the website where I put my pics? I'm using Flirck.

I've just posted my submission for the GW Monthly Comp. #220. I've been surprised to be the 1st and only one for now.
That's going to be an easy one this month

Come on Guys, you still have time to post yours!!!
    Bring
    me some competition

Edit 1: Submission updated as per comment received about the text Thanks Araval.

Edit 2: y2day, if there's nobody else for that monthly competition, I agree to sacrifice myself and take all rep points for 2nd and 3rd place as well... It would be a shame to waste them

I for one, didn't even know the competition was going on(otherwise I would have submitted something). I first learned about the Halloween one when the vote thread went up and I saw this post:/

Maybe just announce it on the front page more regularly?

About the themes, here are a few ideas:
    - the super-villains (as we did the super-heroes already)
    - Santa Claus, anything relating to him but presented in an unusual manner (humour, scrary, etc...)
    - In France we have the Father Whipper for the bad kids but I think it's the Boggeyman for England and US.
    - Chimera: It doesn't need to focuse on mythology only. The idea is just to make a mix between things.
    - Landscape or decoration set (anytime, anywhere and anyhow) - not sure about that one

I agree with Dontfearme22. A front page announcement might help to gather more competitors

I've tried to promote that one (comp. #220) here and in my workshop but it looks it hasn't been efficient
Hopefully, I'm not working in advertising business

Just a quick post to say that I've posted my submission for this GC #221. I just hop to not be the only one

Edit 1: After reconsidering my work, I'm not fully satisfied with the result. I feel like there's something missing
I'll probably update it soon, once I've found what's missing

Edit 2: Submission updated With some light effects, I think it looks much better
So now, I look forward for more competitors.
