    Default North&South - Mapping

    Hey there!

Since a lot of people like to create maps for the mod, but actual lack the proper buildings, I decided to upload all (working) building objects so people can use them inside TED.

    Usable buildings

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    3in Ordnance

    12lb Napoleon

    Limber

    Sandbagwall

    sandwall

Stonewall (Disable match by size, enter custom value: 2, draw with line)

Snake Fence (Disable match by size, enter custom value: 5, draw with line)

    Snake Fence End

Rail Fence (Disable match by size, enter custom value: 2.5, draw with line)

Download You can download the mod fom my steam workshop! To use the buildings in the Shogun 2 Terrain Editor you have change the type of the building pack from mod.pack to a movie.pack. TeD only loads this type of packs!

How to use satellite maps in TeD After a bit of trial and error I found out how you can use custom heightmaps in Ted. So instead of painting it inside you can extract a satellite image out of google earth

For using satellite imagery there some tutorials online like this one

After you have a proper sized map you have to overwrite the original "empty flat" of TeD. You can find it in your shogun 2 folder (not the data folder)

    yoursteampath\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\ted_data\BattleTerrain\Presets\empty_flat

Here you have to overwrite the "height_map_0/1/2/3.dds" with your heightmap and edit the "scale" and "bias" entry in the height_map_0/1/2/3_settings.xml. Scale is the maximum height of the highest hill, while bias controls the overall height of the map (very low numbers (eg. -75) will result in a completely "flooded" map. You can edit the bias factor later in TeD, too.

If you have questions, just ask!

These are great! The possibilities are endless! Thanks a ton. You wouldn't happen to have made any progress on the *gound colors*, have you?

Wow, those stone walls really add a nice touch to my Fredericksburg map!

So for someone else to play the map do they also need to have the pack downloaded?

Thanks so much for taking the time to put this little package together. I can't wait to test this out. I've been in Jamaica for the last 10 days getting married, I'll have to check it out when I get back.

Hehe, have fun! And I'm looking forward to some maps!

    Edit for all:

If you are using this pack, I suggest to add a download-link in the description of the map. In theory I could upload it as mod-pack to the steam workshop, but then you wouldn't be able to use it inside TeD, since TeD only loads movie-pack files.

I uploaded the buildings pack to the steam workshop.

This should make it easier for mappers to get people downloading the pack since you can easily link to it now.

The Steam workshop version is not compatible with Ted - since its a mod-pack and ted only loads movie-packs.

I added some new building models for our mappers and all those who want to get into mapping! For Battle maps i'm dependent on you guys, since I don't have the time to create battle maps. ECompany already made a cool map for the battle of spotsylvania, I would love to see some more of such maps!

Attention! I will update the pack tomorrow!

If this mod was as advertised as other top mods, this one would be one of the best. Great job, great work, love ya man.

Haha, well I would definitly need a community manager who has to improve the PR of the mod

Btw, I now updated the building packs on steam.

I would really love to see some well made custom maps!

Thanks for the new models Primergy!

I added the new models to my Fredericksburg map and updated on steam workshop.
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=117710938

Also been working on a simple generic ACW map, "Virginia Creek." I haven't made it publicly available yet, but Primergy and ecompany should be able to test it. Check my workshop items.

As stupid as it may sound, I'm still having trouble getting the Steam workshop icon image for my workshop items to work. I've tried renaming it "steam_workshop.jpg", also tried converting to TGA and still no luck. It works in game, but no icon on the workshop page for my maps....

Edit: Virginia Creek can now be downloaded on the workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=566801532

Nice! personally i would make the terrain height around the river heigher (like 2 meters) so that the sand texture is reduced^^

Btw, what do you guys think about some "mapping contests"? I would post some american landscape pics and you have to rebuild it in TeD (only the scenerey, doesn't have to be a full blown usable map). Might be a funny way to learn TeD.

Been working on a couple earthwork fort siege maps recently.

    Here's one, Fort Jackson:

So does anyone know how to set up 4vs4 deployment zones on a siege maps, i.e. 4 deployment zones for the defender? Haven't figured that out yet, so I currently have it on 4vs1.
Also, any way to get the AI to use the EF lines?
