NEW RELEASE [[[DOWNLOAD]]] VICTORIA TOTAL WAR 0.3 OPEN BETA [[[DOWNLOAD]]]
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the second OPEN BETA for Victoria: Total War is now available! As ever, progress has been very long and tortuous, with times where it has felt like more steps are being taken backwards than forwards. It was hoped that we would be able to get new models for Germany into the game at the same time as those for all the other main factions, but that has not been possible. We hope to add them, as well as a lot of other things, in the future, but, in the mean time, have fun with all the models that we have managed to create!
What this mod includes currently:
- Simple and easy to use installation executable.
- Mod Launcher, with which you can activate/deactivate the mod files as well as other maintenance tasks. More options will be added as the mod develops.
- A complete roster of new unit models for the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, France, Russia, Austria-Hungary and the United States of America. Other countries have generic rosters, and Germany is a work-in-progress.
- Some artillery has been added to the game.
- All units have modified stats to suit their own era within the mod (Early is 1865-c.1871, Middle is c.1872-c.1885 and Late is c.1885-1914), right down to the weapons they were using with distinct properties for each weapon. What ever you do, do not try to outshoot a french chassepot-armed early era line infantry unit unless you've got some cover to hide behind!
What it doesn't have yet:
- Unit icons/pics/descriptions for all units-we are working on these, and have sorted a template for the icons. We plan to incorporate descriptions for all units as soon as possible, and add new icons/info pictures as and when new models are added. We will most likely not add any full size unit info pictures until the weapon models are in-game, or it would look rather wierd.
- A compaign-any volunteers with knowledge of startpos modding would be very welcome, otherwise I'll most likely have to deal with it myself, and it isn't exactly my strong point...
- Modded Naval battles-we can't add new ship models which kind of sucks...what we will most likely end up doing will be something based on auto-resolve when we have a campaign, but watch this space.
- Suitable quotes for the loading screens. Well, we have a list, but we can't get them working. If anyone has knowledge of how to sort these out it would be massively appreciated.
- A proper intro-we'll need a few more models in-game before this for obvious reasons.
Download and Installation Instructions
- Make sure no other ETW mods are active, and verify your Empire: Total War game via steam to make sure it is all present and correct.
- Open the link to the download page (see below) Download all 4 files you see there.
- Make sure all the files you download are in the same place, then run the application marked "VTW 0.2 Beta Installer".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the mod.
- Download and install the 0.3 Open Beta patch as per instructions in the enclosed README file.
- Run the mod via the dedicated installer-a shortcut should be created on your desktop.
- Have fun!
