Yeah the cavalry charge in the clip looks terrible. I hope that isn't what they were talking about when they said "we've worked extensively on charging animations and giving charges a more weighty feel", because it looks terrible when they all leap up in the air like that.

That's what I thought initially, but then I noticed they were charging against savage orcs on boars (aka, cavalry on cavalry charge) so that might explain the lack of oomph. Still, underwhelming, they could put some work already on cavalry vs cavalry charges looking better rather than just straight stopping the units the moment they collide with each other.


In any case, my biggest concern is not any of that, but how it looks like any other generic Total War.

Yeah, I don't see why they needed to have the leaping charged in there, it would have looked better if maybe, idk, they charged INTO them instead of leaping up. They could have added something like an orc getting pierced by a lance and falling off his wolf/boar/spider, or having them kill the animal or something, but no, apparently they think leaping up in the air looks more like 300, ergo, more "cool".

Looked fine to me. I really hope they make some historical battles because I really like them, but they were horrible in Attila.

If i understood correctly, there will be "historical" battles that you can unlock during campaigns (quest line). Not sure if you start with any of them unlocked.

Man, I miss the 80s. Back when camel toe was a way of accessorizing your skin-tight leggings

Lot of works needed on timing and frequency of those prance animations, that's for sure.

Also, some convincing cav on cav animations are badly needed for this game. Mounts being knocked over and riders being toppled off being the priorities!

Well, there was a chance that they went the ambitious way and designed the game from the ground up with a completelly new design direction... but that chance seems pretty much gone now.

So yeah, so far it looks like any other generic total war game, which was my biggest fear to begin with, but let's wait and see.

Based on what people were saying you'd think this would be some massive epic change to Total War and it would be awesome.

Then we see the footage and it's just basically Total War in Warhammer. I suppose the silver lining is that it seems as if there was actually collision detection.

I predict prancing everything, prancing horses, prancing Demi-Griffins, every Tom Dick and Harry will go prancing mad, it will be like the shield raising everybody will want to be part of the fun.
