That's not what I meant, I have 4 suits available for my crew. I have one equipped with rocket launcher, one with the shredder gun and one with a flamethrower (who I don't find very useful so far). However, there is a slot that indicates the possibility to mount one additional weapon/carry another piece of equipment, yet this slot is locked, and I don't know how to unlock that.

I assume the lock means that the armor you're wearing can't choose a normal equipment piece in that slot because it has to be a heavy weapon.

Well.. I just had a phyrric victory, my first actually.

It was with my predator team no less! Dutch, Blain, Mac, Billie, Hawkins and Poncho. The commando team from the movie.

Early on they got into a tough fight that caused some heavy damage due to a lot of missed shots, causing me to use all health kits. I carefully managed to push through and actually managed to clear it out with everyone alive but some having very little health.

With the evac point near, advent dropped reinforcements not too close to the evac so I tried to put my wounded ones as close to the evac as I could.
Billy only needed to take one step with the package and he got away fine. But then Poncho moved since he only had one hp. Sadly the overwatch of a mech did catch him while I thought he was out of sight. Poncho died.
And then Dutch just lost it and panicked, tossing a grenade at Mac and Blain! Mac died and Hawkins panicked.

I moved blain close to the evac behind cover, was out of range so I put him on overwatch since I wanted to provide some protection to Hawkins and Dutch who where both panicking.
Next turn Blain missed his overwatch shot and was killed. Dutch and Hawkins kept panicking, Dutch was also killed. Hawkins stopped panicking, I moved him as far away from enemies as I could to the evac zone and lucky for him a shot fired at him missed.

Hawkins and Billy where the only survivors, both gravely wounded and Hawkins being shaken. Dylon also lives since he wasnt on the mission.
So yeah.. when panicking your soldiers can still attack allies, and with grenades even! Dutch chucked it right at them, in the opposite direction of any enemies. I dont even think your soldiers where capable of tossing grenades in panick in the last x-com and its the first time I saw it here.

I finally beat my first playthrough. That last mission is harrowing. I used up all my medkits getting to the final chamber. My sniper took out the avatar at the last possible second, with a nest of vipers closing in from the flank and no grenades left.

Btw, the heavy weapons are awesome. My grenadier fired his shredstorm cannon down a hallway packed with chryssalids. He took out all five of them with one shot.

Yeah I love the heavy weapons. Even gave one to my sniper, the missile that flies around cover.

Had a War suit on my ranger but decided to give her a Wraith suit plus the dodge PCS to stack dodge, has a 50% chance to avoid half of incoming damage (which is higher than Archons, and you know how annoying those guys are with the dodging).

Add this to not triggering reaction shots, being untouchable after a kill, and the ability to run straight through walls or instantly get to a nearby roof.

I just finished my first full playthrough.
It was alright, I feel like it was shorter than the last game.

I might take my time more in the next playthrough, now that I know how the campaign is laid out.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Did anybody get the idea that the next expansion or full game might be like Terror from the Deep? Which I've been hoping for.

Jake Solomon, the lead designer, apparently really, really hates Terror From The Deep. So despite that last scene, not a lot of people I'm aware of see it happening.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

Really liking Capnbubs accesoires pack by the way, he added barrets, a more traditional millitairy helmet, a face mask, ballistic goggles and versions of the cap with a headset. And it all has the same quality as the items in the game, it fits in perfectly as if it where official DLC!

He's working pretty fast on this too.

Wow, I could never flagellate myself like that for RP purposes, Psy Ops are so much fun.

It takes months to fully train a Psy Ops trooper, but so worth it. It's so satisfying to detonate grenades in the middle of a Muton pod.

I guess the Warden armor does look like Power Rangers armor a bit. The colors are pretty standard for Republic Commandos though.

They look much nicer in the EP II I must say. No silly glowing visor and I believe pretty much all are in white save for slight bits of yellor or red for officers I think.

Finally finished the game, last mission was pretty dramatic.

Situation looked grim, one of my specialits was down (the one with the best healing capabilities), my grenadier was mind controlled and there were like 5 regular Codexes with 1hp around. Then I misclicked, and when I reloaded (not because of the killed specialist), all my recent savegames ctd'ed.

So I had to resort to an earlier save where all 3 Elder codexes+ my specialist were alive. This time it started off even worse, I had trouble finishing the second Elder, he had my sharpshooter bleeding out and and mind controlled my specialist. My commander unit was supressed and surrounded by a horde of Mutons, and had no ammo. Heavy mechs and the final Codex were already approaching. Then I decided to give up my sharpshooter and casted the rift attack, which killed the second Elder and the remaining enemies that were pinning down my Commander, but also ultimatively my sharpshooter. I manged to fall back and regroup for the final wave. Ofc my specialist was instantly mind controlled again, but then I had real luck: I managed to crit the Elder with my Commander, after which he teleported right beneath my Psy Ops. Luckily the powerful Psy Lance attack was ready, so I casted it, and this time he spawned right next to my Ranger, with only 1 hp left. I then finished him with a good old fashioned slash attack. It was glorious

Oh my god, the UFO attacks are infuriating. I hate them so much, god damnit. I feel like the difficulty in this game is a bit too obtuse in comparison to, say, Darkest Dungeon where it's difficult, but always fair. Still going to try to push through it though.

Well I had the ufo attacks late always, when my troops all have the best armor and weapons. Last one I just kept waiting for their reinforcements to come in and I kept killing them easily, killed 60 enemies that mission.

Nearly lost Billy Sole (from Predator) when I send him in a bit closer in stealth and he was uncovered and surrounded by like, 10 enemies or such. He was defeated and bleeding out, and I managed to resque him which was pretty awesome, and Billy got to get in some more kills after he was patched up.

I must've done sth wrong, because the Avenger got attacked only once, and I really took my time with the campaign. Wish there had been more, having your whole crew out there was cool.
Was a bit disappointed that the final mission wasn't more like this
