The only solution is to probably buy a new DVD-ROM drive.

    dxdiag
then save to a txt file and look for the dvd drive

    theres my specs
Ive been looking on some forums and ive found that its might be something to do with the safe disk 4 copy protection and the type of dvd drive.

It didn't work 4 me but it might for you you can download something called sd4 hider and disable the safedisk4 protection, it worked for some other guy.
some people also said that d-tools and other virtual emulation drives , star force or Nero might be screwing with it.
so it might be worth removing all of them.

The JLMS DVD-ROM XJ-HD166 is a 16x/48x commonly found in Dells. Go to their site to look for updated drivers, or uninstall the current drivers and restart computer. Also, try the DVD in both drives to make sure you have not mistakenly put the DVD in the wrong drive.

Did you install the driver or update the firmware? Flashing the latest firmware is important. The same utility you use to flash it can tell you your current firmware version, so check before bothering to upgrade it.

Contact Dell and tell them the DVD-ROM drive in your system is dead, and if it's under warranty then you're in luck.
