    What do you mean by variation in cliffs? Different cliff colours/types for different climates?

    Sounds like you're putting tonnes of new textures, I assumed it was only a re-polish of existing textures. Astonishing how nice an old game can look.
    Each climate has it's own hi-resolution cliff textures that simulate depth. It looks hi-poly but actually it's not.

    I honestly can't believe this mod is so alive and well! Given how a lot of attention has been shifted towards the Medieval II mods focusing on Roman history: Europa Barbarorum II and Invasio Barbarorum II. Bravo, RS II team! Or should I say...RS III team?

    Those are pre rendered scenes. You are not gonna get those in RTW's engine.

    I think the current animations are fine.

    One thing that's always bothered me about RTW (and what I've seen of R2) is the fact that everywhere is wilderness or a giant city. There's literally nothing in-between. The world is effectively empty of humans outside of city walls. I don't mean there should be random civilians walking around battle maps, but there should be houses, small towns, farm fields, etc, throughout the world, particularly the more settled Med area.

    I know there are *some* such additions to RTW battle maps - little villas or farms near major Roman cities - so it should be possible to add these in to all maps, even if just "out of bounds" scenery (since AI probably would have issues with it).

    That's one of my few remaining wishes for this amazing mod/game. It will never feel "realistic" or complete to me as an endless wilderness.

    Thats an interesting idea. I wonder if its actually possible to mod.
    I know DVK is adding bigger ports to port cities but if you need to actually design maunally every battlefield it wont be practical.

    I figured whatever mechanic causes this stuff to exist already could be expanded on. Maybe it's just too deep in the code, unalterable, to change now, but since the modders have changed everything else about map objects, I figured why not?

    I am now restoring many of the small enhancements I had made to the patch before it got broken, so progress is being made. Adjusting climates and making a few changes to trees right now, as well as a few visual enhancements to the strat map.
