Default Presentation II - The Muslim World

In this second presentation, I will talk about the factions of the Muslim World: Songhai, Morocco, Ottomans, Persia, Bukhara, Mughals and Aceh.

The factions of the Muslim world settle different parts of the world and each of them is unique, but they share something: Islam.
Muslim factions unite sometimes together for Jihad and protecting their faith.

For this presentation all factions will have a small one and I will go deeper with the major Islamic faction: The Ottomans.

    Morocco

Morocco is the mod’s faction represents Islam in Maghreb.
Morocco is threaten by Portugal that recently conquered Ceuta, Spain and Ottomans that hold Algiers. The faction units are well adapted to desert conditions.

    Songhai

Songhai is the Muslim Subshararian faction of the mod.
Located in West-Africa the wealthy Empire won’t go easy on Europeans and other potential Muslim invaders (Morocco and Ottomans).
The biggest issue that the Empire will face is the little access to fire arms. However the faction has access to good cavalry and is well adapted to desert and forest warfare.

    Persia

Persia is a rising Empire in the Middle East.
The Empire is ongoing major military reforms. Persia used to rely on bow and arrow cavalry and neglect the potential advantages of fire arms. But recent conflicts with the all-powerful Ottoman Empire led the Emperor to make fire arms as an important part of the Persian military.
Persia controls wealthy cities and its army is getting more competitive. The Empire has its destiny on its hands in order to become a major action in the world.

    Bukhara

The Khanate is located in modern Uzbekistan.
The fall of Mongol Empire led several small khanates to emerge one after another.
Bukhara is one of these khanates and controls the rich city of Bukhara.
The faction has a “steppe” faction feeling with its powerful bow and arrow units.
It you miss Mongols and want to become the Emperor of the Steppes, then Bukhara is tailored to you!
Bukhara adopts fire arms in middle game in order to no fall behind Persia and Ottomans.

    Mughals

Mughals are the successors of the Timurids. The faction is led by Islamic Mongol and Turkic leaders and try to Islamize India with their invasion. For this reason Mughal units are highly Mongolian inspired and Mughals rely therefor on a powerful cavalry (unlike most Indian states).
In order to justify and consolidate their presence in India, the Mughals also adopted some Indian style units in their army.
In other terms Mughals are a hybrid faction of Mongolian and Indian.
Recently Portugal and Vijayanagara allied to expel the Muslims of India and a confrontation against these factions will happen soon or later in order to decide who will control India. Hopefully Mughals have the support of other Islamic factions.

    Aceh

Converted by Arab and Turkish sailors, Aceh represents Islam in South-East Asia.
Malacca Sultanate used to be the most powerful Muslim state of the Region, but recently the Portuguese conquered Malacca and Aceh became the most powerful protector of Islam in Malayas.
Aceh army relies on units adapted to jungle warfare and use also elephants.

    Ottomans

Among all Islamic states, Ottomans are the most fearsome and powerful.
The Empire is a little bit contradictory. They represent the spear head of the Islamization in the world helped by their conquests in Europe and international maritime trade.
But at the same time, Ottomans want to dominate the world even if it means conquering other Islamic states. They basically won’t mind to destroy Persia, Morocco or any other state for their own interest. They also don’t mind making good relations with Christian Kingdoms such as France and HRE.

Ottomans are very powerful and their army rely a lot on Janissaries.
The main problem that Ottomans will face is that their imperialist stance makes them a target for Christian coalitions and attacks from other Muslim brothers.
Most of Christians don’t hesitate to ally and launch Crusades in order to expel the Turks from Europe once for all.

The biggest European rivals are Portuguese. Portuguese and Ottomans fight on the Indian Ocean in order to control the European trade with Asia.

If you play with Ottomans, I suggest you playing with the highest difficulty though ;(... They are really powerfull.
