Heres a image of how the Assyrian mid-tier is developing right now:

The wardogs are a bit more out there, but there is lots of evidence Assyria pioneered the use of war dogs in the end of the Bronze Age and early Iron Age, so working it a few centuries back is fine, if not perfect. Ill be doing more research to see if its still viable.

Also, dogs are cool, so theres that.

Very interesting mod, i would like to play a campaign, if it is finished.

I might be wrong, but did the Assyrians not use a very famous kind of heavy infantry/phalanx?

First off, im glad im not the only one who frequents the lost treasure chest, however Neo-Assyria =/= Middle Assyria. I cant use any Assyrian imagery from that timeperiod as good base references for the mod, especially after the reforms of Tilgath-Pliesar. Its just a different nation. Its a lot like using Early Byzantine art as reference for 3rd-4th century Roman art. Its close, but no cigar.

Amorites. Assyria has access to a unit of Amorite tribesmen, so I figured since that shield design kept cropping up in my research on Amorites might as well make it. The specific details are primarily conjecture on my part however, since I saw high variation in all the different forms of the shield.

    Hallo,

maybe I am wrong in this tread, but I need help to install AoB. I have install AoB in the specified directory in RomII\Data.
When I go to steam, and will upload the mod, I became this note:

"You must have a preview image called "age_of_bronze_1.01.png" (??????) in the same location as the pack file.

I don`t understand this. Can help me someone out of this?

    Thanx a lot

    Joe

You don't need to upload the mod to the Steam Workshop in order to play it, not sure where you got that idea from!

Just start Rome II, make sure that the Age_Of_Bronze_1.01.pack file is ticked in the launcher's mod manager (we'd also recommend disabling all other mods), and then run the game.

And finally, I have been adding new loading screen quotes. It is a very arduous process, but I have almost 60 to show for 4-5 hours of work. I will try to do about 100 or so, which should have enough variety that repeats won't occur often.

    Here they are:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Now come on: we will fight one another. And the Stormgod, my lord, decide our case.

Egypt, loyal to Horus, organized your slaughter; your grief is repeated.

I cannot overcome the worry from my heart; I cannot overcome the anguish from my soul.

Look, in Hattusas, bloodshed has become common.

Whatever lands rose up in the direction of the sunrise, I defeated each of them.

And thou shalt give me to eat until I am satisfied; and thou shalt give me to drink until I am drunk: and thou shalt establish my issue as kings in the land, forever and ever.

Steady of heart! Steady of heart! Watchful! Watchful! Watch for life at the tent of the king.

He coursed through the eastern highlands, he traversed the ways like a jackal.

I give life to the whole land, strangers as well as peasants and citizens.

Come not to contemplate the terror of the sea

Behold, it is good to finish your education, better than the smell of lotus blossoms in summer, better than anointing oil in the tomb.

If his heart be toward fighting, let him speak his will.

Twice joyful is Egypt at thy strong arm.

O my soul, too stupid to ease misery in life and yet holding me back from death...

I was not laughing at you, it was at your writings.

If you are strong, and if your heart waits patiently, you shall press your infants to your bosom and embrace your wife. You shall return to your house which is full of all good things, you shall see your land, where you shall dwell in the midst of your kindred.

For every joy there is a price to be paid.

Leave him in error who loves his error.

Man, know yourself... and you shalt know the gods.

He is greater than a million men for the one he has favoured.

Then those enemies rose up to make their escape from before him, and the face of the god was towards the Land of the North, and their hearts were stricken through fear of him.

Behold, his majesty spent the whole time seeking the welfare of Egypt and searching out instances of oppression in the land.

I swear: as Re loves me! I will myself go northward, that I may destroy that which he has done, that I may make him turn back from fighting, forever.

Thou shalt attain old age, abiding on earth; thy heir shall be upon thy throne forever!

The prospect of hunger and thirst has driven us to this; there is no clothing, there is no fish, there are no vegetables.

I destroyed their towns and burned their homes to reddened ruin-heaps forever, because of the destruction they had wrought in the midst of Egypt
As for every son of mine who shall maintain this boundary, 18 which my majesty has made, he is my son, he is born to my majesty.

All the foreign lands stood together as one ready to fight, there was no escape, for they trusted their numerous warriors. There was no end to men and horses. When they came their hearts were courageous and no fear was in their hearts.

Let us join the fray together for my heart is tried! my fingers are apt and clever when thou goest astray.

Be not arrogant because of that which you know; deal with the ignorant as with the learned; for the barriers of art are not closed, no artist being in possession of the perfection to which he should aspire.

All organs work together in the functioning of the whole.

One foot isn't enough to walk with.

Strength cannot keep pace with intelligence.

The honest man will earn his pay.

There is no baked cake in the middle of the dough.

In the city with no dogs, the fox is boss.

That which bows down its neck in submission puts its breast forward in defiance.

A good word is a friend to many men.

You should not speak improperly; later it will lay a trap for you.

If a man destroy the eye of another man, they shall destroy his eye.

String your bow, let your arrow be coated with poison!

Dogs devour corpses, lifting their chests. When dragons kill, what is left from their mouths is put aside. Fire consumes reedbeds even though they have waterways.

Have you ever heard the word of a mighty king twice?

He who speaks with the king disloyally or treasonably. If he is notable, he will die a violent death; if he is a rich man, he will become poor.

Will he who can see, see it? Will he who can hear, hear it?

Just as this bedbug stinks, so may your breath stink before god, king, and men!

Let my bones not be carried off by water to a foreign city.

Whoever transgresses the words of this tablet, may Teshup, Shimigi, Ishhara, and all the gods destroy him!

May well-being reign over my brother and his house, his horses and his cars, his notables and his land.

If you are my brother, why have you praised my name, when I am no better thought of than a cadaver?

A guy with bad breath decides to take his own life. So he wraps his head and asphyxiates himself.

The yoke of my lord is on my neck, and I bear it.

My lord is the Sun who comes forth over all lands day by day.

These lands were united, and they laid their hands upon the land as far as the Circle of the Earth. Their hearts were confident, full of their plans.
May my father know it: the seven ships of the enemy that came here inflicted much damage upon us.

A camp was set up in Amurru. They desolated its people, and its land was like that which has never come into being.

Nice quotes. I would also suggest this one, which deals with the invason of Egypt during Ramesses III's reign (found at Medinet Habu):

The foreign countries made a conspiracy in their islands, All at once the lands were removed and scattered in the fray. No land could stand before their arms: from Hatti, Qode, Carchemish, Arzawa and Alashiya on, being cut off at one time.
