Default Viking Religion or generic Religious Studies

I am offering two courses and I will be running this poll to see if there are enough individuals to make a class and therefore run a course.

    Courses available
Method and Theory in the study of Religion (Religious Science)
    Religion in the Viking Age

    Course plan and study material:
    • Academic artcles in PDF format available online
    • 10 week course, with 9 modules/topics and an essay
    • Weekly or bi-weekly reading followed by a seminar/group discussion where each student presents a review of their reading where we then discuss it and ask questions.
    • Apart from reading, each module will culminate in a simple short test made up of roughly ten questions that ask the meaning to specific terms such as "what is meant by the word pantheon?" answers will sent to me via PM. These tests are to check if students have digested certain unique terms.
    • Students would conclude the course with a project essay with a title and theme of their own choosing.

    My personal qualifications:
Degree in Religion and a degree in Scandinavian Studies which includes Nordic languages, Nordic archaeology, Sami religion and culture. I am currently doing two Masters one in Religion in Sweden, another in Nordic Studies. I have worked in the past as an English language consultant for the business world such as Volvo and Astra Zeneca helping them with presentations and customer service management.

Religion in the Viking Age looks good, I'm about to start a bit on the Vikings for a module at uni now, so it's fitting too.

Not sure how much time I'll have to do this, depending on when it starts. But I'd be interested in taking part in either of them to be honest if they do go ahead.

I'm also very interested by the Religion in the Viking Age, especially for the end of the Viking period to understand deeper how and why the Catholicism replaced the original religion. In general, I'm also interested to see how the Viking Religion influenced their society.

Thank you but we will need more guys signing up in order to run a class. So far we are only 2 or 3, I really need at least 5 to make it worthwhile

I am working on a front page announcement and some other things for the Uni as a whole, so hopefully soon some more people poke their head in and we get the needed students.

Great, well with one more I will start a thread. I was thinking of shortening the course to five weeks, but with two subjects a week - what do you think about that?

It depends, but should be workable.

I'm afraid there are not enough definite applicants who can commit, since this course would be fairly intense and require a good deal of my time, I won't be proceeding until further notice. However, I will keep my eye on the thread and if needs be reconsider for a July start.
