    Default [mod] Deo volente - THE religious overhaul

    Introduction
    Hello everyone,

    I'm happy to introduce Deo volente - 'if God wants it' - to you all.
    I made this mod because I was annoyed by strange ahistorical things CA has put in the game, for example, the split churches, catholic and orthodox.
    (Historically, the great schism took place in 1054)

    CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

    Current features:

    • The latin (catholic) and greek (orthodox) churches are unified in one church called 'catholic christian'
    • Nestorian christian is added (see church of the east)
    • New icons for religions
    • New icons for (certain) religion effects (more are coming)
    • New state religion descriptions, giving some background history instead of bland 'state religion'

    Coming features:

    • New state religion effects, to represent christianity spreading into Germania..
    • New religion edicts...
    • Edited religious buildings...
    • Possibly later, adding in of Miaphysite christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Arabic Paganism and African Tribal Paganism. -- This depends on how easy (or hard) it is to make new religions with the assembly kit...

    Compatibility:
    Deo volente is compatible with most mods, but not with startpos mods (so, no tpy, region changing etc. mods) and savegames (unless you want the ERE Nestorian).

    Did you lower the threshold for changing your nations religion?

    This looks great, sadly it will conflict with other mods I am using. Dam I have to make a decision!

    Strange that CA tried to force tensions between East and West over religion when they overlooked heresies. This looks really good!

    small update:
    I caught some apostles of the light proselytizing in Brittania, shouting that it was a local tradition there.
    You can guess it, this update bans them from proselytizing in the isles without proper cause...

    Nice! very interesting mod, I will try it after my current campaign. Also, any plans on editing religious buildings? (I'm using a self-made mod that decreases Christian churches upkeep)

    Very interesting mod. I'm waiting updates.
    There is a Nestorian Chapel in Serdika. Is it right?

    What does this mod do with Local Traditions? I kind of hate Local Traditions. They should have gotten rid of them and just drastically reduced the rate of change (depending on whatever TPY mod you have)

    @Alraen
    I probably missed it, I'll remove the chapel but that update won't be savegame compatible, so just burn it to the ground...
    @Renown
    Local traditions are still around, just edited to prevent the spreading of Nestorian through the ERE. I can easily remove them, but I don't know how to reduce the rate of change. I've tried editing conversion modifiers but it didn't seem to help. I think that table is broken... CA didn't use it either...

    Maybe do the following... remove Local Traditions but add Osmosis to citys/towns? or that could cause some problems... mmmm how to remove local traditions and yet slow down the expansion... add osmosis to all religious buildings? but have one focus on it more than the rest?

    What can you do with characters and religion? Might be worth taking a look. Though then your mod with start to conflict with others...

    I'm beginning to feel that this is more appropriate in a larger mod like FOTE or Radious.

    Is there the possibility of having the generals of the eastern army predominantly Arian as Arianism was considered the Orthodox practice till Theodosius, and under Arcadius and Theodosius II many 'heretics' were allowed to retain military posts. It has been argued this was another aspect of the successful decentralisation of the military in the east.

    Lazica and Armenia are Nestorian. I suppose it is wrong, because Nestorian Church had influence mostly in Mesopotamia and other Sassanids lands.

    @Renown
    I can give characters religious influence, that's not that hard, it's even in the game already, through priests...
    @C. Antiochus Philipappos
    In Attila, generals don't have their own specific religions, or am I wrong?
    @Alraen
    I see, but there's a problem with that, since the Sassanids are already Zoroastrian and removing that would be very ahistorical, but I thought Nestorianism could really use some factions who can spread it, I might make an update on that though...
