not being to select multiple factions, have tried a few different things and am just burning through the list of possible ways to create the hotseat
To create a vanilla hotseat you add the HS settings to medieval2.preference.cfg and then make the file read-only
You start the game, you go to Single Player > Imperial Campaign and select the factions and settings. There is no Multiplayer > Hotseat in vanilla menu, it's added in Kingdoms.
If you use Steam version of the game there could be problems, IIRC it's broken.
Yeah I tried that, I have Steam version
In that case, either
1) Someone with a non steam version creates the hotseat
2) Use retrofit mod instead of vanilla, it's the same or actually better than vanilla because it's possible the vanilla steam version has more problems/bugs since the update, also a compatibility issue between steam vanilla and CD vanilla wouldn't be impossible, while with retrofit (or any kingdoms mod) there have been no problems.
3) Since medieval2 and kingdoms.exe were merged, there is a small chance that by adding some data menu files, the Multiplayer > Hotseat will appear and you'll be able to create the hotseat. Do you have retrofit mod installed? Or any other mods?
No mods to my vanilla, would you be willing to create the hotseat? And once it's created I can still admin, clear saves, etc..?
Vipman has made the save but it does not work with my version of the game, sorry all but I shall be posting for new admin, make sure to give Vipman rep for his help!
If more people could please load this save to confirm the save is ok for CD version of M2TW but it gives crashes to Steam version, there could be a problem on my end, I could have edited some vanilla files and forgot about it.

If there is an incompatibility between Steam and CD vanilla, only players with the CD game will be able to play a vanilla hotseat, if any player uses the steam version you'll need to use retrofit / a Kingdoms mod.

The save worked for me(I have CD version). Alternatively I could do the starting save as I did this many times before and none of us had problems with it between us at our forum. That should work with everyone hopefully.
Another possibility is, that I take the admin position and Frosty takes my place as Denmark, so he can play, if he wants and I will do the starting save.

Alright, turn 1 finished. French, your up next! Use this link to get the save file: http://www.filedropper.com/hatnfrance1
GL HF everyone, I think this hotseat will be really interesting!
Again, if there are steam players in this hotseat and they can't load the saves, the hotseat will have to be restarted, so this should be cleared out first.
So retrofit mod yet? lol
Also you are all invited to take part in The first ever Elder Scrolls HotSeat here on TWC. Stop by the thread to join up.

Retrofit is simply the vanilla campaign ported as a Kingdoms mod with it's own mod folder. The Kingdoms Expansion is required however.
So it is compatible, I'll get that soon,
The read-only option is everywhere in Google if you type how to start a hotseat but steam doesn't let it work
Tried yesterday
I would like to ask everybody to try this save out, if it works.
