I Can Install it, but can't start!? Help?

Hello

So, I can install the game, but when I try to start it:

"medieval2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..."

any ideas what's wrong??

What are your computer specs and how did you install it? Also, are other programs shut down?

Comp. Specs: Amd Athlon 3200+, 1024mb ddr 400, Ati Radeon 9800 pro, Sound Blaster X-fi Elite Pro, Windows XP

I have tried to re-install many times, and I have other programs shut down...

Does anyone have ideas?
Updated all drivers I know.
Also tried changing RAM settings from BIOS.

Change the RAM settings back in the Bios. You video card is bare minimun is not too old to work correctly. Did you install DX9 from the DVD and what version of ATI drivers do you have. Others have problems running this game with the same VC card as you.

I changed RAM settings back.
I did install Dx9 from DVD, but also tried uninstalling Dx9, and install it from internet.
I have ATI Catalyst 6.11 drivers now. (also tried with latest Omega drivers)

I have the same problem. Sometimes it works, and then it gives the same error. I'm really annoyed.

What's happening to me: Everytime I try to start a game, it takes a while to load, and the screen goes black. A box pops up saying "Microsoft Windows detected and reovered from a device failure." Sort of the same thing.

i'm having this same error message for the demo.

now long ago i installed the demo and i can't remember how well it worked on my comp i think it was a little bit laggy at times, but decent.

Now i have twice the ram but my video card still sucks so i want to see if i can play the game as i will buy it eventually.

I just updated my driver (i think, not sure if i did it properly)
but i still can't play it...what do you guys mean by programs shut down?? :hmmm:

please help
