Default Where is Richard the Lionheart?!?

The other day, I started the Crusades campaign as Jerusalem. After actually reading the manual, I expected to have King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) but instead I got some 16 year old king with his older brother as the heir and about 2 or 3 random generals. Did the manual lie again or does Richard come as reinforcements from ENgland or what (Years (or preferably turns), if any, please)

i think he comes as a reinforcement, and i think you have to lose jerusalem to trigger it.

If it is historically accurate on the date, it should be about 1191 - 1193 A.D. I believe.

9 or 10 turns? What about the other 3 generals? Does any faction have 1 at the start?

He comes pretty early in the campaign... It's not like you needed him or his units to defeat Egypt handily, but he shows up with a full stack and almost maxed stats.

I dont know what he can or when he comes, I only played a campaign as Antioch which got bugged rather soon after this event and this was somewhere close after the release of kingdoms.

Richard automatically comes whether or not you control Jerusalem (As does Philip on the exact same turn). He has about a half full stack and 3 gold chevrons for his bodyguard. His special ability is Heart of the Lion which stops routing units and returns their morale to a normal level.

The Byzantine hero is Manuel Commenus. His special ability is Byzantine Diplomatics which causes some enemy units to become paralyzed for a bit.

Yeah, as somebody said, Richard the Lionheart of England, for Jerusalem, and Philip II Augustus of France, for Antioch, appear in the levant around turn 10 or so. The Turkish (Nur ad-Din) and Egyptian (Saladin) sultans are their starting heroes, but I think more emerge at a later date, such as Osman for the Turks. And yes, the Byzantine hero is Manuel Comnenus.

That 16 year old boy is Baldwin IV the leper king. King of the Jerusalem at the time. The heir is Guy de Lusignan and he is not Baldwin's brother. Gerard de Ridefort was the Grand Master of the Knight's Templar at the time and Balian was a Baron and the defender of Jerusalem.
