I need to activate "start empire" only before using the submod for the first time right? Or should I do it every time I going to play the game?

Hi,
You should run 'Start Empire' allways.
If you don't run it, half of the VDM mod will not work ( you will not have attrition, deseases, disasters, etc...).
Just to join the CTD discussion:
- In the previous ID_project version, I had that problem almost every ****ing turn but with the new version of ID-project and VDM, the game runs as smooth as in V_4.21 ( I set the 'gentlemen_experience_train' and 'rake_rebellion' scripts to=false).
Try setting this scripts to false and report so that Vadants has more info to work with.
Thanks,
Alrighty, will give that a go! Its the scripting.lua under the early campaign right? Sucks since I really like trying to create rebellions
For further description, my crashes are usually at the start of my turn(after the pirates) and sometimes a random faction. That was in older versions though, in the newest(1.9 with 4.5 ID) its at the start of my turn
Hopefully that works out. Otherwise I think maybe my computer is getting too old to play
Hello,
I have been getting CTDs nearly every turn as well. I have tried turning off various scripts, including the ones suggested by PMPG, without any luck. I also tried playing with the standard Imperial Destroyer game options, I usually use square+trade_ships+rakes_assassinate.
All of the crash dumps say:
Exemption Code 0xC0000005
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access
I am running win7 with the latest 4.5 .NET framework. Does anyone have any advise?
Thank you.
I did it, and everything seems to be working good o_o
Now I need to get my stability under control before I have to deal with an Austrian Republic
Curious, since the Ottomans have been through it already, if I was taken over by an Austrian Republic, could I rejoin Royals under another rebellion?
Ah damn, im back to having problems out the butt. Getting CTDs pretty frequently, and sporadically. Sometimes before the British turn, sometimes before my turn begins, sometimes random factions. Also, I gotta ask....is VDM really resource intensive? I know its gotten more complex than the first time I played it, so im starting to wonder if its just my old ass computer
It's hard to identify the problem without fixed CTD. But i must say that mod works fine with vanilla. Maybe tha problem is in EventScript.

I expirienced CTD as well right after the first turn playing as Great Britain.
I'll keep messing with it, see if I cant find some common problem..... I was having akickass campaign and dont wanna lose it
I just have a tickling in my mind saying its my computer though, at least this time around. Not enough RAM
A previous one was for sure some glitch with Austria(region) having a rebellion
Ahhh, im gonna give up for the time being, play without VDM. The crashes are sporadic, twice on France's turn, then it made it to the Cree
Im guessing it must be that my PC is too old, 4GB of RAM and Windows Vista
Didnt test that, turn off event script the same way as the others?
Edit: Also, would it be save game compatabile to re-enable VDM on a new campaign? Because I started a plain ID campaign
I'd renable and check it out to see what happens

Allrighty, I'll reactivate VDM, then turn off event scripts, and hope for the best
To clarify, I turned off VDM by using the plain early campaign script for ID4.5
Just played for two hours with no problems. So it must be something in the event script since I still had problems with gentleman trainers and spy rebellions turned off
Should I try turning them on to see if theres any problems?
VDM updated:
- fixed CTD in event script
Now you can turn on all scripts. Many thanks Vaniol for his save file.
Woot! Will download tonight
What was the problem?
How did they do it during a turn? O_O
Anyway, everything seems fine now. I played for a few turns with events turned on until my stability got too bad
Curious, for a future 2.0 version, could you seperate the stability/economic scripts from the generalized flavour scripts, or make an "Easy" version of stability? Have higher thresholds for Mass Disorders popping up, and such as that
