Hi guys, are there ways to add own music on battle mode or map mode in this mod? If yes, can you tell me how?
Hi guys, are there ways to add own music on battle mode or map mode in this mod? If yes, can you tell me how?
Be advised i only changed how a few EB2 musics were played, and deleted a couple of others that were from 0 A.D (added healing of froeh to both Winter and summer turns for the celtics as well as to the battle map, and deleted the celtica and celtic pride songs from the whole mod as i hated those 2 and they were from the 0 A.D indie game) But adding a new song follows the same procedure im sure, but just in case you should backup descr_sounds_music and the other 4 files at the end of this post.
1) Place the MP3 file in mods/eb2/data/sounds/music
2) Open descr_sounds_music txt file in mods/eb2/data
3) Scroll down to the specific culture you want to add the music to, and write the exact name of the music alongside .MP3 below the other EB2 musics.
An example:
state MUSIC_BATTLE_MOBILIZE
event
................folder data/sounds/music
................EB_Western_Greek_Mobilization.mp3
................EB_Roman_Mobilize.mp3
................EB_Western_Greek_Mobilization.mp3
................EB_Eastern_Greek_Mobilize.mp3
................So_Much_Trouble_in_the_world_Bob_Marley.mp3
There are 3 tabs for the battle map. Tension is the music that is played at the beginning, mobilize while you order your units to move and battle when there is fighting. Scroll further down to see the campaign music for the culture you want. There is a Winter and a Summer tab, but i'd just put the music you want on both.
Campaign music change example:
;;; CAMPMAP
......state MUSIC_STRATMAP_SUMMER
..........event delay 5
...................folder data/sounds/music
...................Rom_Camp1.mp3
...................Rom_Camp2.mp3
...................EB_Roman_Theme.mp3
...................Rom_Camp3.mp3
...................Rom_Camp4.mp3
...................Rom_Camp5.mp3
...................Dont_Stop_Till_You_Get_Enough_Michael_Jackson.m3
4) Now open mods/EB2/data/sounds and DELETE (MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL THE FILES BEFORE just to be safe)
a)events.dat
b)events.idx
c)music.dat
d)music.idx
5) Play me breda, one love.... AUUUUUUUUUU (michael jackson yelling)
PS... just in case, i advise anyone to not follow this little tutorial to the letter, cause playing EB2 with Bob marley and MJ, even though they are great, kinda takes away the immersion![]()

Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

Seriously? Bob Marley? I love Bob Marley, but his mellow stuff does not belong on the battle map. You need powerful, heart-pumping badass music for when you are killing thousands of people, storming the walls, and conquering the world. If not really intense classical music or movie scores, what you really need is METAL.
In either case, Wulfburk, you deserve some rep for this most excellent help. Cheers.

For anyone who hasn't seen or taken heed of Wulfburk's advice here, I would highly recommend it. I generally love the campaign map music (plus the frontend score in the main menu), but the battle map music really gets repetitive. That and it's just not very exciting battle music, nothing like the foot-stomping, heart-pumping tunes in the original RTW and M2TW scores composed by Jeff van Dyck. Some of his songs are so powerful they sound like metal, but with orchestral instruments.
Personally, I went with RTW and M2TW scores, plus other stuff in my iTunes library like X-Ray dog tunes that are perfect for video games. For instance, Here Comes the King:

I've had trouble getting new songs to work in the game unless they had the same names as some mp3 song files that already existed in the "music" folder. I just pasted over those songs with new ones, but kept the original EB II track titles like "BarbBattle40" etc. etc. If anyone else has a problem getting the music to work, try this.
The game is so much more epic now that I have songs like this in it:
I've changed many of the songs, but some are just too good to change, like some of the 0 AD stuff. For instance:
What a fantastic song. I find it hard to believe it was just made for a video game.
