The impact of climate on History?

Hi guys, I'm unsuccessfully looking for technical resources on how climate has influenced the rise and fall of civilizations, fomented conflict and the migrations of entire peoples and altogether changed human History.

Does anyone know of good articles (I'm looking for short works rather than extensive books) on the subject? I'm specifically interested climatological part of it, so I kind of need something with technical info such as charts and graphs about climate rather than just text. I've been told to look in Google Academics but I only find walls of text and no graphs.


Something about how the melting of the polar cap would benefit Russian naval routes could work too, but I can't find technical info on it.

I'm only a beginner here, and climate change and human civilization isn't what I study for a job (though it's something I'm interested in!).
