Default New Style of AAR - Co-op in Attila

I got this idea about a possible new way for an AAR. What if AARs could be co-authored by two writers playing a multiplayer co-op campaign? The beauty herein is that with the new features in Attila, there is a huge scope for exploring new avenues.

One example is playing as migratory hordes and each player presenting the story as from the perception of the tribe they are playing as. This means that the AAR will not only have a lot of content, but it will also be rich and refreshing from reading two accounts of a story.

I will see if I would be starting one and will look for any friends who would be willing to join. Meanwhile, I am looking forward to see the discussion about this.

    Thoughts?

Good idea, and I'd be happy to join you...once I get home and purchase Attila, that is.

I believe Tig tried to do this with his AAR but sadly his partner didn't have enough time to write and play.

I've always wanted to try a multiplayer AAR with Shogun 2 or even Rome 2. Don't know about Attila though, I'm like many others in that Rome 2 has shattered my belief in CA to create good, polished games but it looks pretty cool. Do you have it, M?

Funnily enough, I have even considered buying a second copy of Shogun 2 to play on a second computer so I can do a multiplayer AAR by myself. I swear I'm not that lonely! Sadly, the later games don't have any hotseat mode. That would be great to use as a writer.

The reason we don't see more multiplayer AARs is that it takes a lot of coordination, both with the game and playing times but also in story direction and all the writing stuff. And if you don't start enough close enough, it becomes just like two different AARs that may one day come together.

I have Attila and played it enough to realize that it is a Rome 2 how everyone wanted it. The horde mechanism is cool, and allows developing a story from perspective of a settled camp. As for two stories coming together, it is not a mandate to be so. It is up to the writers on how the story will be presented.

If anyone wants to give it a try, catch me on steam and we'll get on it.

Thanks BF, we'll catch up on steam to discuss more on this. Also, I'll also think of some ground rules that can be followed to make this smooth.

We have completely different time zones though, could be pretty difficult to get game time done, if it were I playing with you.

Or even two players from different cultures, like potentially WRE and a hord player, or 'foederati' faction betraying their previous ally. If I could find time I would be interested

I think this is a solid idea M. I've been wanting to do a co-op for some time now, since HatG. Political marriages would make it so much more interesting.

It's almost midnight where I am. I'm considering staying up to 2:30 for the MAARC LVIII results, but perhaps tomorrow evening would be better for me.

Lucky, I have a month left till I'm (relatively) free. From what I've seen of multiplayer let's plays it seems quite fun and could have a lot of potential

To be honest, so far I haven't seen much enthusiasm or commitment on any new thing. I am blaming anyone, RL is busy stuff. But to be honest, it seems as no one has the time anymore to actually do something as a community anymore.
