Thread: Is there a way to actually kill the Huns?

Default Is there a way to actually kill the Huns?

    Hello there!

In my Eastern Roman campaign, where I have retaken Dacia and the Bosporus, Im at war with the Huns. That war I have been winning for almost a decade and I figured I could kill the Huns before Attila becomes King. But everytime I kill everything but their last army, another one spawns in the next turn. Like they go from Strength Rank 19 to 4 in one turn. They keep sending armies into Dacia and past the Bosporus all the time. It is not that I don't have the troops to kill them, it is just that is becoming a regular event. And the thing is, their capital army is hiding up in the Baltics, which I can't reach because of the damn winter attrition!

So Im wondering, are the Huns unkillable? Are they always going to spawn in or is there something I can do, besides killing them over and over again?

Seems like they are scripted from what you're saying.

I killed the huns off in the prologue campaign. Though that may be different

They can create new armies out of nothing, but only in their turn. So if you manage to destroy all their armies in the same turn, they are defeated for good.

They're probably scripted to survive until Attila takes the throne. And fyi you can't kill Attila until you've already defeated him once.

nooo don't kill the huns silly, they're sooo useful.

Im playing as the sassanids and ive found that puppet states are the way to go forward in this game, for the sassanids anyway. I've turned the Huns into my most trusted and powerful allies who've kindly been keeping the eastern Romans busy in the balkans and greece while me and rest of my lovely, amazing, loyal puppet states have been carving up the entire eastern roman empire !

Take a look, ive recolored the sassanid faction color on campaign map to be black !

All those little blue flags you see everywhere, they're all the armies of my vassals and puppet states. I've never once had to bring an army back to the home provinces to crush a rebellion (i've had like 30 rebellions by now) but every time rebels show their head, my puppet states who are positioned beautifully around my country come and quell all rebellions.

They also contribute greatly, Makran, Mazun and Aksum have marched all the way from their home provinces and took Egypt and shared it between themselves. Atropene is helping me in Anatolia, 2 stacks from every Arab faction have gone forward and began to take north africa and the afrghids along with other persian satrapies are just patrolling the northen borders aswell as my home provinces.

MOST OF THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT ME USING THE WAR CO ORDINATION FEATURE BELIEVE IT OR NOT
    Feels so awesome hehe

If you work to earn a living, why then do you work yourself to death?

Great, now I just have to lure them back to the Balkans, because I am not marching in winter and I will not take every settlement between me and them.

Tell me about it. While I have been busy taking Dacia, the Bosporus and just now eliminated the Persians and resettled Dalmatia, the Huns have burned all of Sarmatia and 2/3 of Germania. And even though they are at war with 18 factions, no one can kill them!

From what I have read on the total war forum it would appear they are pretty difficult if not impossible to eliminate before Atilla takes the throne. However if you manage to defeat (kill) Atilla twice you get a message telling you he is dead and the horde apparently starts to fall apart after that (or at least acts like any other faction that you can wipe out).
