    Default Different bodyguard units are still possible in the campaigns...

    I just did a test, and apparently different bodyguard units are still possible. Even the old stats are kept like in Rome II. CA left the option open, although the option screens are not perfect. Here is an example of what it looks like:





    Issues in the replace general screen:
    - Overlap of the "select bodyguard" unit tap that doesn't make it graphically attractive, but it does allow you to pick the general on the bottom of the list if you mouse over the bottom (which is one of the candidates, normally)
    - Unit info screen: melee attack-melee defence are the only visible stats

    Issues in the raise army screen:
    - Unit info screen: melee attack-melee defence are the only visible stats

    Maybe a bit of a noob question but how do you acces the screen? I can't seem to choose when I recruit a new General.

    You can't The screenshot shows a mod to the game's files that adds it back in. The base game removed this feature for some baffingly terrible reason. I loved having my general in a unit of archers or whatever.

    Oh, my bad, didn't quite get it at first. And yes, they should re-implement it asap.

    Argh so cant get any diff generals even though they are there in custom battles? Been wondering about this...

    Early on not a prob as having melee generals is fine as you are building up..but later on you def want a mobile general.

    I guess you could probably make a mod with some UI scripting to put the UI pieces in more apt places.

    Please do this, why CA removed it in the first place is baffling?

    All I did was edit commander_unit_permissions_tables in the db files. No photoshop, the mechanism is still left from Rome II.
    I merely added a horse unit for the Western Europe factions as a test.

    The thing is, I don't know which units would make sense as bodyguards... I mainly wanted some early cavalry option for the factions that only have foot generals in the beginning... If there are any interesting ideas concerning to which units would be appropriate, I don't have a problem making a mod based on the db files. But I am not capable of making the graphics scripting Mitch is talking about.

    Just look at custom battles permissions and see what units appear as generals there. Although I think most of the are locked by technology.
