Strange. I am so sure I heard the Danes speak Danish in Napoleon. I haven't played it in quite a while so I might be mistaken but I am certain I heard Danish in Napoleon...

Modern saxon is still spoken is the netherlands and large part (in fact the largest part) of germany, modern frankish is dutch. gothic is extinct but a bible translation remains. Iirc the germanic languages were still mutually intelligable back then and probably sounded something like the dialects the speak in the nothern netherlands, nothern germany and southern parts of denmark. The other parts had some vowel and consonant shifts

The danes speak swedish in Napoleon afaik...but it's a long time ago I played it. But they definently don't speak danish. I would remember as I am danish :p

In the German version, at least, they spoke German

Sorry for OT I gues, I don't really heard any vocals in the campaign music, in fact I find the music in Attila a bit TOO subtle, most of the times it feels as if there's no music at all (apart from the main menu).

Mix the two together, copy the Swedish word order and put some hot potatoes in your mouth and what will come out might be something a little like Danish

The OP reminds me of the Medieval II Kingdoms - Crusades campaign music. Playing any Muslim faction, you heard HINDI vocals as well as Veena. I thought they were Arabs, not Indians (who at this time had not faced Islamic invasions).
