    I got the same error as many others. But it seems to be ignored and still not fixed since rome 2. This error happens when you try to open the steam workshop pack file. Sounds like steam is using a different file type that pfm needs to support.
    Whats the fix?
    Same issue, tried deleting MFH header in notepad, then i get another unknown error message.
    These so many of these threads and search results w same errors but no posts as to a fix lol

    Update:
    u have to delete everything before "PFH4" so thats the first entry on the text file.

    So I had to del "MFH SOH NUL SOH NUL" then pfm was able to open it..
    why in gods name this has to be done idk

    you can bypass this issue if you just use the steam subscribe button. once you have subbed, the mod file will be downloaded/added to your folder. you can move the file elsewhere so you can mod it and unsub from the mod. that is the best workaround I have used for this issue.

    Hi. I have the same problem! I was creating a new mod before the release of the last patch and now i can't finish the job.

    I have since figured it out. Explanation is here.
    This would be the changed file. Just put it in your packfilemanager folder, overwrite, and you're done.

    Any devs interested in forking this to github and starting a discord channel? I'm about to fork this myself because sourceforge is a disaster for collaborative work. I can help you guys get rid of all the crashes and errors - I have around 10 years of C# and C++ experience. If this doesn't sound good, I'll just fork it and fix the bare minimum of bugs for my modding needs.

    So far I've fixed a couple of bugs and implemented Apply Expression with a proper expression parser, so you can apply formulas such as (x * 0.7) + (1.5 - x).
    I haven't figured out the deployment workflow yet, but meanwhile, you can take a look at the source here:

    Currently seeing the exact same error message on startup. It doesn't seem to actually cause problems, but it is pretty annoying that it pops every time I open a PFM file.

    Well simply because it doesn't need an install. You just Unrar/Unzip it and use.

    I have the same error message at the start and I have discovered that when I load a mod and save it in PFM something happens that mess up the mod. I never get past the first loading screen in any mod that I edit after the error message.

    Main_Unit_Tables doesn't work anymore for Rome 2 . Also changes made in land_unit_tables have no effect in game .

    Any chance of a PFM update ? I have tried versions 5.0/4.1.2 and 3.5.2 all with the same result.

    For whoever updates the official PFM master_schema.xml (and maxVersions files), here are the new entries for the latest TW:Rome 2 patch. I had to learn how to use the DecodeTool.exe, so it took me a couple of days to get them.

    The female_character_culture_spawn_rates, female_character_faction_spawn_rates, and female_character_subculture_spawn_rates tables are all currently empty, but they're ready for someone to use.

    In the other three female character details tables, CA gave us all of the column names, but I wasn't certain where to place "public_office" and "missions", so I left them as unknowns. "general" was more obvious for two of the tables, so I inserted it into those two.

    Are you using Schema 106, released 30 Nov 2017? If not, I suggest using that version as it works for me, except that I needed to insert those entries I posted yesterday due to the patch 19 changes. Schema download location: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pac...iles/Schemata/

    Hey guys, thanks for great tool, couple of questions:
    1. Could you please update URLs to TWC topic on Steam group and SourceForge? They both point to outdated http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?618353
    2. Could you probably enable issue reporting for registered users directly in SourceForge project? It's disabled currently https://sourceforge.net/p/packfilema...ature-requests. Would be easier to file bugs etc.
    3. I get "Could not determine latest version" error (PFM 5.0 and schema 109), see below

    I am also receiving this error. Was it ever resolved?
