    Default Why has Rome no siege weapons in 139 BC

    Can anyone tell me why I can't recruit siege weapons in BC 139 playing as the Romans?

    I have huge cities in Italy and I have build all the barracks and academy.

    Is the siege weapons tied to a reform?

    I have fought against siege weapons in a battles against either Macedonia, Karthadast or Epirus.
    I can't remember which nation, as I at the time were being attacked by all the neighbouring nations and it got a little hectic.

    Romans can't build siege weapons (as ballistae, catapults and the like) until the polybian reform. With the Polybian reform, you can build them with city barracks.
    I suppose this should mimic the technological improvement the Romans get from submitting the Magna Graecia (as the Greeks were more techologically advanced).

    Thank you for your reply.

    The Polybian reforms has occurred many turns ago and I have upgraded all the barracks and still I can't recruit the siege weapons.

    Could it be the The Marian reforms instead of the Polybian?

    in bold the basic siege machines, the requirements corresponds to the regions of Attike, Delta Neilou, Epeiros, Greseoallra, Heptanomis, Lydia, Mysia, Peloponnesos, Rhodos, Syria, Thessalia, Trinakrie

    all greek regions, so, if you want siege machines, you need at least Syracuse or Massalia

    The code in my "export_descr_buildings" file is identical with your post.

    I have control of Syracuse and Massalia with a type 2 government and all barracks build. Both are huge cities.

    I will just have to do without them and continue to siege the cities for one turn and then assault them to expand my empire.
