    Default BIG lag

    My PC is not very powerfull but generaly the game run almost fine.
    Except when i'm in a city and when there is many corpses on the ground. I had the same problem in the demo. The game can freeze for 30 or 1 minute !!!!
    Not depending of the texture level or the number of troops engaged.

    All pc have bad lags, its not the game but its the window program itself.

    AMD Sempron, 1 Go RAM, ATI 9600
    But the game runs quite well most of the time. But when i have dead corpses, and units together in a city, the game become totally unplayable.

    Am I the only one to have this problem ?

    Seems your pc is not good enough. I'd tone down the praphics if i were you.

    I have a similar problem to this Tovi.

    2gigs of RAM, AMD 3200+, Radeon X1800 series.

    Only dream I ever have. Is it the surface of the Sun?

    My PC is fine for every others battles. But in that cas it freeze from 10 to 50 seconds (chrono) each image !

    ATI does not like the Total War... I had a 9600. It Sucked. I got the GeForce. Its better.
    Sorry to say it. Lots of "threads" for that....

    Might be the graphic device. I used an ATI Radeon 9600XT with Rome and got problems when about 6000 men were on field. I then shifted to Nvidia 7800 GS. It helped a lot. Still this lag problem of yours has occured to me also. I set city resolution to "low" and now everything is fine. At first I thought it was all due to the the corpses...but it seems not. This city resolution really seems to take effect on my computer capacities. So perhaps try to lower building resolution first - it doesn't look that bad. However...I feel like the 9600 might be in for some trouble.

    thats comman
    u have big city=more buildings=more 3d models=more lag
    all u can do ATM is lower the building detail level,vegitation detail level etc

    @Tovi: sry what do you mean "it was the shader v2"??? is it means that you switch to shader v1 then everything ok? no lag when siege or in bridge battle?

    ive got the same thing aswell. im getting my new pc in a few weeks but its fine now in normal battles but when i look towards a large city its a lagfest. i no its my pc so if its a big battle in a large city going to have to auto resolve until i get the new pc.

    I used shader v2 and got terrible lag on siege big city(citadel or something similar) and on bridge battles(when there are too much man gathering and kicking each others butts on a tiny land) complete unplayable then i decide to turn off shader v2 and change to v1
    everything now be fine no more lag in every battles

    Shadow Quality, bloom and reflections are all part of shader 2. If you choose shader 2 and these are off, then the fps are the same as in shader 1. So keep shader 2 on and vary the 3 amounts described above. All on gives me 16fps, all off gets me 35fps. A BIG difference.
