Great stuff. Thanks for doing these, WiseCoffin. BTW, you are going to struggle by not sticking to the recommended settings - especially with Dwarven recruitment as the limited population will not likely keep up with huge unit size settings... I think we might change "recommended" to "please use" ...

That's the thing though; pretty much everyone who plays RTW plays with "Large" or "Huge" unit sizes. Once you are used to that, it's kind of hard to go back to "Medium" sizes. Besides, there are ways to soften the blow of recruitment at these levels: I usually just recruit mercs whenever available and then disband them wherever I need the population increase. Mercs are pretty cheap in this mod, so thus far this method has actually been highly successful.

'Large' - not Medium - is explicitly recommended in the faction selection screen.

Bummer about that fort sally. And the Dale betrayal. The only way to avoid that, from what we can tell, is to leave a decent sized garrison in Erebor. Well, at least now you can conquer their lands, after you crush them when they try to assault your Dwarven walls.

I feel like I should explain about those 'Lindon' and 'Eastern Wilderland' buildings (the ones with the book icon). The way it works is, if you build those buildings in Dwarven lands, you won't be able to train Dwarves anymore, *but* you will be able to train Mannish Hireling troops. You will also be able to benefit from any building effect that says "(Mannish population)". So take a look at the buildings you can build that have any "(Mannish population)" effects, and decide if it's worth it.

It looks like you've already built those buildings in the Ered Luin settlements, so now when you build some Wayposts, you will be able to train Hirelings (assuming you have enough population to do so).

Those building descriptions have been changed to be more clear in the final release of the mod.

Has the "unbreakable" alliance between Dale and Dwarves been fixed for the final release ?

I don't know that there is a way to fix it, unfortunately. All alliances are ultimately breakable. It's just that the Rohan/RK one rarely gets broken until late in the game, if both factions have gotten very large and beaten all foes in the area.

An ungarrisoned Erebor seems like just too strong of a temptation for AI Dale. The best solution is apparently to keep at least a half dozen units in there to deter an attack. Unfortunate, but at least it's not too difficult for the rich Dwarves to afford. (The in-game text has been updated to suggest this strategy.)

I know all about the backstabbing AI, but if i recall correctly Aradan said he has found a way to make permanent alliances between Dale/Dwarves and RK/Rohan and that the feature he has implemented was still buggy in the beta version.

Ah, well I'm not aware of any fix as of yet, but Aradan has been quite busy. It may be he has some more tricks up his sleeve.

It seems pretty safe to leave the starting garrison in Erebor and reinforce it with mercenary longbowmen when they are available. I was starting a new campaign this morning and sent the longaxes and axethrowers to combine with the garrison from the iron hills and conquer the fort north of it. Dale backstabbed me while i was besieging the fort. 1 General, 1 dwarven axes and 1 Dale longbowmen wasn't enough, but i have never been attacked with the starting garrison + 3-4 longbowmen.

Hmm, this video seemed to have some syncing problems... or is it just me? After the first couple of minutes, part of the video repeated itself and the audio was off by around 30 seconds to a minute.
