Playing the Total War games in order. (chronologically)

What's up fellas? So I'm new to the Total War series, but highly addicted lol. I currently own Medieval 2 (which essentially owns my weekends) and shogun 2, which i have beaten and am done with, both purchased during the steam holiday sale.

Well after becoming engulfed in Medieval 2 for the past month or so, I took a look and noticed how many TW games are out there, and thought it would be a pretty cool idea to play them in chronological order.
The plan would be to buy them as I get to them starting with Rome 2. Then probably Atilla, Medieval 2, then Empire, sticking to 1 faction/region the entire time. Is this a ridicules idea that i shouldn't even do, and just jump straight to the best in the series? What do you guys suggest?

There's no real correct order to play them in, but if you want to get really techincal, you should probably go:
Rome 1/2
Attila/Barbarian Invasion
Medieval 1: Viking Invasion
Shogun 2: ROTS
Medieval 1/2
Medieval 2: Kingdoms Campaigns
Shogun: Mongol Invasion
Shogun 1/2
Empire
Napoleon
Shogun 2: FOTS
With brackets those are either ors.

Don't forget the Alexander expansion to Rome 1. (Should be at the top of this ^ list)
