Error installing

Earlier I installed the game without problem, but reinstalled in due to a problem which was the game couldn't locate the DVD. So neans I have not played it yet.
But now I can't install it! I get this error:

"Feature Transfer Error"
Feature: Sounds
Component: sounds
File: D\main\sounds\Voice1.idx
Error: Computerfault (CRC, cyclic redundancy check)

Had it twice now

I will do it once more today, after that I don't have time. Installation takes forever.

Remember that I succesfull installed it first, but I couldn't launch it..Can't find the DVD..blabla ****

Update:
May the gods be praised and include me there. The installation issue was solved, what the problem was, what I think. Directx. I choosed not to install it and it worked, just like it did the first time.
And now the game itself works without any errors. I don't why I couldn't launch the game earlier, but guess I was just unlucky.

So therefor this thread can by closed and i'm happy that I can say that. Unfortunately many hours was wasted today.
But tomorrow is a new day. So Medieval 2 here I come

Thanks for keeping it open friend. Appius, did you install DX9 from the DVD the first time and then you could not work the game until you reinstalled and said no? I am trying to understand what happened for future reference. Thank you.

I did not install it the first time, and the two times after that I used with DX9 and failed.
Though I got it to work last time but not without errors, it said something about Audio.dat was corrupt, but the install could resume because I could choose to ignore or try again..

I just got a 'cyclic redundancy error' at some point during installation from the second disc of the game. Will try without the DX9 installation and see if it works.

EDIT: It didn't work. It was on the file 'logos.bik' in the 'main\movies' directory on the second installation disc (of 2). This is really annoying me now.

If you have the hard disk space, trying selecting all files from the cd and copying them into your harddisk, if everything is copied without error then theres something interfering with the setup. Otherwise if it says crc error then they might have printed a faulty batch of DVDs.

I had to get a replacement copy in the end, which worked perfectly - the second disc was faulty for me.

@Mechstra: Thank you for that note on how you fixed that problem.

@Appius: Try uninstalling the game. Get rid of the Sega folder. Explore the DVD and find the DX9 folder and install it. Then restart the computer and reinstall the game.

Hey, when I was installing, it asked for my cd key. I typed it in (Correctly! I checked the "checklist" to make sure also) and it won't even let me click "NEXT" to continue on. The key looks like AAAA-AAA-AAA-AAAA-AAAA Is that right? I did type it in right, so that's not an issue, but it might not be recognizing that I filled up the character limit. Pressing enter in the box doesn't work either. Please help! Thanks.

I'll update u guys on my problem. I typed a wrong cd key, but I was able to install the game. Good, but the cd key is still invalid...So I try playing the grand campaign. I'm able to do the strategic parts, but not the actual RTS battles. Everytime I finish loading the setup for an RTS battle, the screen goes black and a box pops up saying: "Microsoft windows detected and recovered from a device failure." What now? Thanks...

I saw this thread after HOURS of searching on google for help. The error I get is somthing like, "installation error. Could not find D:\m2tw\data1.cab. I/O error."

Someone tell me what the hell this means, and better yet, how to fix it?

This thing should have been closed two years ago.

To answer your question, it's either a bad dvd as in dirt, fingerprints, cracks in the plastic, Sega oops when they made it, or your dvd reader is bad.
