It means approx

500 k active player for TW : R2

Really?Because Empire has currently about 6,065 player on steam ,Shogun2 = 5,411 and Rome2=24,402

I highly doubt that these are different players each day....could you explain me how that ammounts to 500k ....or 850k?

WEll in May of last year, 8 months after release. 1.13 million copies of Rome 2 were sold in total.

So what your saying is that of that 1.13, and lets say add another 200K on top for sales between now and then (as per bathtub curve for software). Even so out of 1,330,000 units of rome 2. 850,000 are still being actively played.

There are two multiplier factors. One is time and the other is frequency. Time can be divided into Asia, Europe and Americas. I'd consider a x3 multiplier. Then you have frequently one plays a game. There have been times that I played the game everyday or just one or two times a month. You then look at a multiplier between x1 and x30. Hard to figure out an accurate one there.

It is very easy to explain as Seketh said

For a numeric application

Lets take an Average of 20k players concurrent for 1 day ( steam data)

If every one of them only play for 2 hours it means that
In a given day there is 12x20=240k players firing up TW:R2 in a day

If these players play only once every two days it means

2x240k players

Or 480k players very near to what they announced

So their announcement seems legit + i doubt a Corporation would allow these numbers to go public if they could be disproved very easily

So you're basically saying corporations are immune to making mistakes when their emotions get the better of them. Remember the 2% nonsense. Also remember that it is the percentages that we need to look at and not the numbers and figures. Plus of course how many need mods to make rome 2 playable. There's a high subscriber base on DEI alone.

Many factors to take into account before we can get excited.

called R2TW (second worst game after ETW). Haven't touched since a year but i had preordered because it was so cheap back then

A faulty position that is essentially a straw man. They simply stated a number. They didn't claim that 850 thousand people were playing every month the vanilla games with no mods or that this number was a high percentage of the amount of games sold. They simply gave a number Corporations can be deceptive but it's senseless to talk about emotions getting the better of them. No one talked about being excited either. We're simply trying to make sense of the number that was given.
