Thread: [Official Submod] Reduced Variation for Improved Graphical Performance

  1. #1

Default [Official Submod] Reduced Variation for Improved Graphical Performance

Run this before the main mod: http://www.mediafire.com/download/vp...manvariants.7z

    Also on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=368672827

It reduces unit variation for Roman and Hellenic units and skins/armors.

Version that reduces variation for all factions: http://www.mediafire.com/download/lb...96skinarmor.7z

We are working on the graphics performance some users are experiencing. It is very strange in that it seems to be on varying machine setups and is not experienced by many users. Being that it is hard to track down, I hope this submod will help for now.

This submod is now also available as part of the DeI Official Submod Collection on Steam.

Thk you vry much for this submod. Lags problems are on spanish factions too.

A lot of people speak problems with hellenic factions but i saw i play VS spanish factions, the lags are terribles.

I hope you will correct this problem too

THk you very much for this fabulous mod and your work!

Added version that reduced variation for all factions back to 0.96 levels.

Thank you very much for working on this Dresden, I am giving this a shot now.

Edit: installed the reduced all factions .pack, loaded a savegame with (admittedly sort of ridiculous) 2 stack vs 4 stack battle that was giving me a 10 FPS slideshow. After installing pack, immediately performance was back up +30 fps to solid 40 FPS. (Roma vs Edetani)

Excellent work! Whatever you did with this, it certainly fixed the issue. Bravo 100x for accomplishing such a fast fix without any of the resources really necessary to do proper tech support on this type of issue.

:cough: CA - you might take notes, this team would make for a great acquisition!

In 1.0, there was a greater variation of faces, clothes, shields, etc between individual soldiers in a unit. This made for a more unique armies (IMO), but seems to have caused performance issues for some. It doesn't remove any actual units from their respective rosters, if that's what you're worried about.

Thanks dresden for the fix solutions, but I still get lag if i use my original graphical settings from dei 0.96. I am using the all faction variant fix and still have lag on my test parthia vs parthia 40 unit battle. System specs are i5 4690k o/c to 4.5ghz and msi gtx 970 4gb. Rome is saved on a ssd so does load quick but I also get buzzing noises before and after stuttering and also just before the battle loads which im guessing is the stuttering fault for this.

How bizarre. My GTX 850M 2GB and i7-4710HQ 2.5Ghz QuadCore runs this fine with everything in Extreme.

I have managed to start a campaign and fight non lagging battles with lowering textures and unit details a little bit too high or very high and 0.96 variations

Hm I am not sure about the noise thing. Seems strange to me. Do you have latest driver for your rig? Graphic as well as sound? I would start there.

Yeah will see if there has been more updates. Noises have stopped since my last changes as previously said above so was a lag issue or was at least only noticeable when it lagged. Could be the speakers on the monitor as I haven't hooked it up to the surround system since the new dei came out.
    Cheers for advice

What does this do that lowering unit details does not do?

I gonna have to try this out I still get massive lag with 4 stack battles and sieges however I was wondering if I use this submod will their still be all the new general models especially for Rome or does mod get rid of the making them the previous .96 versions.
