Thread: Error, any solutions?

  1. #1

    Default Error, any solutions?

I installed RoTK several times. I can play without the updates, but when I install any update and when I start the game, immediately after the loading screen it appears an error something like: "sory pal". Can anyone help me?

I know this is just a stupid question, but did you install all 3 updates in the right order, i'm sure you did but i have to ask, also when you downladed the patches or updates were you doing anything else on your pc, maybe the updates or patches got corrupted

The most common problems causing this are wrong sequence of patching (possibly wrong install directory) and corrupted downloads as Sigmar points out.

You will not be able to continue a save game.

Hello, and sory for posting in the wrong section. I just normally downloaded them and I'm sure the order was correct, there can be no for them to be installed in the wrong directory as I checked once and after every patch the main's folder size was increasing after each. I'll redownload again the patches and the game itself, I have ESET Smart Security 8.0.304.0 antivirus, I'll also deactivate it.

Yeap, it's till the same error, the game works without patches, but after the 1st one, after the 2nd and after the 3rd, everytime I start a campaign it crashes. If anyone wants to check the circumstances I can share via skype my screen and take indications from you.

can you test it, try to play it after the basic install, then try to play it after the 1st patch , then test it after the 2nd and so on that way maybe we can find out what patch is the one that is causing the issue

The problem is with the first patch it seems.
Kindly run this tutorial from step3 onward, delete the medieval ii total war folder in the virtual store and try again.

Should I do this after I install all 3 updates, before or after the 1st one?

Do this before you re-install or do anything else with the mod. Then try the mod again.

Looks very similar to the problem we faced here.

Please check the Error Reporting ReadMe sticky on how to go about a trace log and then open your own thread. Upload the compressed log and please describe your last action as well, eg, clicking start in the faction select screen.

I am starting to wonder if it has to do with the fact that you installed it into the teutonic folder. This method hasn't been used in years to play mods on Steam (or otherwise) because of problems.

And the log is not in trace mode.

My suggestion: Remove your desktop icon for RotK and reinstall the mod by using the default installation path. Browse to your Medieval II Total War main folder if necessary. Install all patches into the same folder. Apply the Quick Fixes.
The latest desktop icon should enable you to start the game directly, regardless if you have steam or not.

In case that fails install the download from here into the mods\Three_Kingdoms folder and use the short cut for it.

I didn't install into the teutonic folder, I just renamed it.
It works now, I reinstalled as I did before with the patches and quickfixes and I use the 2nd icon from desktop called: Rise of three Kingdoms Steam.
However, if I delete the icon from desktop, from where I will be able to start my game again..?
Thank you very much for your help you offered by now.

Determine the file the short cut links to by right clicking the 'Rise of Three Kingdoms Steam' short cut, then select 'open file location' in the selection window.
