Many cities in Rome Total History have at least one building that narrates the story of the place and gives some hint on how it really was, possibly with a picture.

Examples are Rome, Capua, Tarentum, Massilia, Lutetia, Syracuse, Carthage, Athens, Corinth, Ephesus, Milet, Rhodes, Alexandria, Thebes, Napata, Jerusalem, Tyre, Babylon, Susa, Ecbatana, Persepolis, Saba, and more.

Most of these can be seen on theses pages, but we are still expanding on the feature and when we find idoneus pictures we add more.

The following will be included in RTH 2.1:

    Apollo's Sanctuary at Delos:

The most conspicuous work has been done on Halicarnassus, with many new buildings, new forts, and new ancillaries too.
Substantially new are also the city portraits of Sardes and Petra, while in other cases the change regards most of all the picture.
The picture of Carthage is still the same, but in this case the description has been improved.

If you still miss your favourite city, you can help us by sending a good picture, and then you may soon see a better representation in your favourite game.

This one is a particular case:

The sanctuary of Bel in Palmyra was one of the oldest religious centers of northern Arabia. Through the centuries there were probably three temples, one from the oldest days, one from Hellenistic times, and finally the new temple of Bel dedicated in 32 AD.
No description has survived of the first two temples, and this is why I have chosen the picture and the description of the last of the three to illustrate this feature. So this is slightly anachronistic, but I guess the first two temples were not so different after all.
The picture is taken from an aquarell by Jean Pierre Golvin.

    Temple of Bel in Palmyra:

The Temple of Bel was the best preserved in Palmyra, until 2015, when it was bulldozed by ISIS.
In August the United Nations have confirmed the complete destruction after reviewing satellite imagery.
To judge from the millions of Syrians in flight, Bel is already successfully working on his revenge.

It's been a lengthy while since I last checked the progress on this mod; fascinating work, no doubt the biggest detail I've ever seen (although im sure the other 'major' mods have done greater things), not to mention that you've managed to put all of these structures into cities. That really is a lot of work and writing! Is the amount of data you can have modded into the game (as buildings, anyway) limitless?

Under many aspects we are close to the limit, but regarding buildings the RTW machine is really generous, exactly the opposite of Rome 2.

    - You can have 64 different types of buildings. To include the buildings from above we have just added number 64.
    - Each building type can have 9 levels, although only five will show in the buildings browser. I think our maximum is 7 or 8 buildings per type, while most have 3 to 5. So this part has still good possibilities for expansion.
    - Each building level can have a different icon/picture for each culture, That makes 6 different pictures, one more if you add the seventh culture.
    - Each building level can have 20 different descriptions, one for each faction.

This makes 64x9x6=3456 different pictures (4032 with the seventh culture) and 64x9x20=11520 different descriptions.

So this still leaves a bit of margin and if you want to propose a building go ahead.

Haha, dang! Big numbers. It really is incredible that a game that old could have such numerous possibilities with several outlooks. Really great job! Can't emphasize it enough.

As for suggestions - I'll leave that to you guys! I'm not smart enough
