Today I wish to propose Ngugi for the Opifex award.
Ngugi's modding work is excellent, with some really cool and innovative features! DCI: Last Alliance and DCI: Tôl Acharn are his biggest projects, others he's led include Ladies of ME and Uncle Imrahil + Dwarven + Aragorn v1,02 Family Tree minimods. In addition to these he has worked on numerous other modding projects such as the Massive Overhaul Submod for Third Age Total War as well as contributing many posts offering advice, help, comments, and suggestions to other modders. Indeed, he is always eager to help others and is very active in this role. One perfect example of this is the TATW Modding Questions and Help Thread. Many of these people are taking their first baby steps on the road to modding and with helpful people like Ngugi shepherding them through the learning process, a whole new generation of future modders is being created.
Opifex is not only about modding though. It's also about commitment to the Total War side of the forum as a whole. Ngugi has been a real landmark and foundation of the TATW Forum for many years. As already said he is always active in helping people with modding work but also bug reports and technical help. He has also been an active local moderator there for many years. Many words could be said on this alone. He knows exactly how to handle the role as moderator as a facilitator of discussion and using that role for the betterment of the community. He very often goes the extra mile to work with people in this capacity. In addition to all of this, perhaps one of his most impressive feats is his posting in the Tolkien Discussion threads. The massive number of posts here and the overwhelming quality of posts is stunning. I urge you to spend some time browsing the current thread. When doing so, keep in mind this is the second iteration. The first one got too large and was eventually closed and archived. Also keep in mind that this is not an ordinary discussion thread. It is essential to Third Age modding and submodding as developers strive to maintain lore accuracy.
TATW is one of the most active and popular areas here at TWC, and I strongly believe Ngugi's presence is a large factor on the sense of community there. Without his community involvement, the TATW forum would be a radically different place in a bad way. His commitment, dedication, and overall love and care for the community is at a level undoubtedly among the greatest here, and for all of these things together is why I believe Ngugi is deserving of the most prestigious of Total War mods, the Opifex.
