    The Vandals

“Abandoned in their hour of need by their Roman allies, the Vandals find themselves at a turning point in their long quest for southern lands.”

For some time they have fought as ‘Foederati’ allies in the Roman struggle against barbarian uprisings. Rewarded with land in Pannonia, the Vandals peacefully co-existed with Rome, even integrating to some extent – enabling figures such as Stilicho, the half-Vandal who now rules the West through a puppet Emperor, to rise. With the arrival of the Huns, however, everything has changed, and the Vandals have been driven out of their lands. They must fight their way across Europe to a kingdom of their own - wherever that fight may take them.

The Vandals’ skill at raiding will serve them well as they search for lands to conquer and control, and their initial placement in the campaign presents them with tempting options. Situated just south of Germania, bordering territories held by the weakening Western Roman Empire, they are well-paced to threaten the old wolf’s largely undefended flanks.

Is it only me, or does the symbol somewhat resemble the Sith insignia?

Nobody would go shirtless in this period. Nobody. That would be like walking outside in modern london wearing nothing but a speedo.

Except the North African sun is far worse than Britain's perpetuous drizzle.

They just wore linen tunics and pants, Germanic dress was heavily influenced by Roman styles, which were usually adopted from the Sassanids. This 5th century mosaic is a prime example of Vandal dress:

I just figured they'd end up burnt and dehydrated in that. I guess they didn't last long enough in NA anyway to really adapt to the pre-existing culture there. I just pictured blonde haired blue-eyed germans wearing the turbans and gowns of the berbers, with thier metal curiass over it of course. sounds like an idea for a fantasy culture lol.

YOU MEAN PEOPLE IN THE PAST WERE *gasp* normal?!

I'm not that bothered by it tbh. I do however recall the Vandals being more Romanized at this point, like most of the Germanic tribes.(Wasn't Stilicho a Vandal by birth Magister?)
EDIT:Just looked him up, he was half-vandal, half-'Roman'. He also served as ambassador to the Shah in Persia before becoming the emperor's guardian. Damn I love this guy.

I recall some Vendel age (North Germanic) depiction of bare chested Germanic warriors.
Personally I do not mind a few "stereotypical" barechested Germanic warriors but most should be fully clothed.

If you mean "Overwhelming Majority" then yes, agreed. Vendel Culture was Early 6th-8th Century Sweden though...

And yes, Stilicho was a Vandal, although I'm not sure if he was half-Roman.

Although Aetius was half-Gothic, but didn't get the crap Stilicho did so I want to say Stilicho was pure Vandal...
