Troy: Total War
Mycenae Skinner
Hey guys. Just downloaded the mod and it looks great. The historic/custom battles run fine, but the game CTDs right when I click on "Start Campaign" for the provincial campaign. I'm running v1.2.
Sounds like another failture to install correctly - please review this thread:

i've just d/l'ed and installed the mod, as told in the instructions (pretty sure i didn't omit a single step), however, when i want to launch the game, i get this error.
i've installed both the soundpack and patch 1.2
so...any idea what might have gone wrong?
thx in advance (for any help and of course for creating a very interesting mod)

Thanks for your interest in FATW! I think you may have made an error related to the fourth step; are you sure you copied (not cut/drag/move) all the necessary folders to the correct location? You may want to check this thread for more help.
That being said, you may want to wait a few days (and it will be days) for the Forth Eorlingas release, as it has everything that is in CI, plus a lot more. It will hopefully be more user friendly to install, as well.

can't wait for the expansion mate
i remember paying much attention in clicking 'copy' - 'paste'
ehm...1sec though ...i had EB 0.8 installed before, i deleted it, but could it be that it affects TFATW nonetheless?
:hmmm:
(yes i know, but i'm tired -> 3.00 am here )

Yes, that could be it. A reinstall should do the trick, but as I say, you may want to wait.

I have a somewhat unusual problem, I have the mod installed correctly and it starts up fine...with one major exception:
It seems to be trying to run in some vastly larger screen resolution than my monitor...I get only the left half (or so) of the loading screen and everything is distorted.
Any ideas what is going on? Normal RTW works fine as does everything else. I can't seem to set it to run minimized or windowed or anything to fix it.
How strange. I assume you have tried to change the resolution in-game? There is a wide-screen setting but this is not activated in our mod; but you might want to check you have not activated it by mistake. (click 'show advanced options' under video options)
Maybe installing FE will solve it if you still have CI?

I've checked in the preferences file - I can't get far enough in game to see options or anything.
Hmm...I wonder if this was the weird problem encountered by Makanyane.
Go into the pref file again and change the anti alias setting to off (it's initiall set to low) - so it should look like this:
AA_QUALITY:AA_OFF
Now load up and see if it works (if it does, you might be able to activate the anti-alias again in-game without the dire effects).

That did it! Thanks a bunch, I *never* would have looked at that.
Excellent mod so far btw, I am very impressed with the work you all have done.

Graycloak - may I know your vid card specs?
Glad to help - but I never would have been aware of it unless Makanyane tracked it down.

(added as a response, so you'd actually see it)
Processor is an AMD Athalon XP1500+ (1.35mghz with 512mb RAM) running windows XP
My vid. card is Radeon X1950 512MB, ATI Catalyst v.1.2.2475 running under XP.
I did find the ultimate culprit in the end on my system (sorry should have said...), for me it was setting in the ATI Catalyst Control Centre, under 3D / Anti-aliasing. There's a tick box that's selected by default for "let the application decide", if that is ticked I can change anti-alias setting via. options within the game OK but using anyone else's preferences.txt, which has a different AA setting to last one selected in game, mangles my graphics!
Someone else in general discussion had apparently similar problem:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...02#post1437102
my graphics looked similar to his screen shot, i.e. correct size but with psychedelic interference.

Thx Makanyane...it's great we know what causes this now!

Shieldwall is for noobs, shieldring is the future
Taken 1 sec after the start of the battle, they start to move into normal formation afterwards.
I think I know why this happens. I have seen this 3 times, everytime when a catapult was in the army. There seems to be a formation problem when a siege weapon is on the battlefield.
Yes, well those catapults are very expensive and need protecting
I will look into it, though formation ai coding is not my thing (or anyone's on the team as darth did it for us).
