Default The Divide et Impera Campaign AI in action!

    Hey guys,

After many requests I made a Divide et Impera edition of my "Campaign AI in action" videos.
It really shows how good and cool the campaign AI is behaving. I think both creators and players of this mod will like this.

I have no idea how embedding works here.

It's a really good video for those, who still complain that Rome2's AI is passive and boring. I hope that there will be more stuff like this to show people that with a good piece of mod this game is fully enjoyable and epic. Cheers mate

    Embedding works like this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Still I think it would have worked better if its shown with a bigger sample size then one as even without influencing the ai it can still pan out very different.

Still generally speaking vanilla is just so damn random, it seems like every faction gets an equal chance and its just the roll of a dice.

I wonder how 1.0 will fair here.

I don't have the time for that. This video already took me days... Campaigns will always stay random, however, it it just here to point out how "active" the AI is. An that is pretty constant.

I also watched your vanilla version ... interesting to see the differences. Major powers don't do so well in vanilla compared to small kingdoms. Great to see that in DEI they stand, fight and conquer. Cool job !

Well, there is almost no major powers left (if any) at the end of the vanilla video However, 'loved to see how major factions, especially the Seleucids, were expending and fighting each other in the DEI one. Great work!

Indeed, however, the vanilla one was just very unlucky basically. This is an extreme lack of major factions.

So the AI does do something! Its just.....not very good at whatever they're doing. I mean just look at how long rome sat with the same territories, it sat and didn't try to take anything for 20+ turns once it busted out of italy.

I think i'm in the minority (maybe) of disliking rapid AI expansion, It is the one major flaw i see within DEI. Mainly because i like to play slow and realistic, i don't like seeing factions die so very quickly. Take your video for example, by turn 50 (only 12.5 years) almost half of the factions are dead and gone.

If there were one thing i could change, it would be this.

I mean I enjoy seeing the AI expand and be vicious and all, but the problem is, once they expand, they utterly ignore their borders or vital cities. Once the AI expands to a certain point, they're very easy to take out since there usually nobody at their cities but the garrison.

I'd much rather see them expand slow and skillfully, making sure to defend their growing empire correctly than to rush and die just as quickly as they expanded

yeah, when Rome itself was endangered, they should have redeployed their troops in Yugoslavia back to Italy to regain the swiss mountain passes and secure the north

Completely agree! With this and shawn's statements. I'm not optimistic that the AI can be retooled in such way though..

I dont think it is fair to look at the number of turns and compare it to the number of years since the mod is 4 TPY it will be hard to have the date correspond. Which is also the reason why reforms are set to a number of turns and not the exact date in history since it would take way too long.
The AI is and will be the AI and wont think like us which is too bad. Would be awesome to have an AI reason like we do.
In my current campaign I had to restart due to the fact, as shawn points out, expands at a very fast rate. Arche Bosphorus had taken almost everything south of me and pushing into the Pontic empire before I had even started my invasion. I also like to do things slow. Getting tired of war games where the key to victory is to spawn troops and just steamroll everyone.
