All ten episodes will be available for binge watching on December 12th on Netflix.
I'll probably be busy when it comes out but I will certainly be watching this the second I have the chance.

Hm. Hopefully they won't this up by including ridiculous wuxia stunts and other kinds of anti-physics or zeitgeisty BS. After all, a series like this is a great and all-to-rare opportunity to show people a glimpse of Medieval Europe and Asia at the same time.
I'm pretty psyched for this, but I won't put my expectations too high, especially after some of the more ridiculous costumes they showed in that trailer. It also doesn't surprise me that they depict the Yuan-dynasty court of Kublai Khan as some orgy-filled sex fest in order to maintain the attention spans of that key demographic. And by key demographic I mean males aged 16 to 85.
Some of those quick shots of battle scenes looked a bit ambiguous, but something tells me they're going to include the failed Mongol invasions of Japan in this mini series, just for and giggles (even though Marco Polo never set foot in Japan and certainly had no reason to accompany the invasion forces of either 1274 or 1281 AD).

Just seen the trailer, it does look fantastic.
You would be suprised, in how many women do like that stuff as well, when i heard the bigest demographic of Milo Manara Comics were actualy women i fliped over my chair.. sort of speak...they depict the Yuan-dynasty court of Kublai Khan as some orgy-filled sex fest in order to maintain the attention spans of that key demographic. And by key demographic I mean males aged 16 to 85.
Could be pretty good, hope they make it historically accurate and not too cheesy
Looks like it could be interesting.
Although it features one of my biggest action movie/show pet peeves, the "turn someone's head slightly and now he's dead" move.
ttt
Adopted son of Lord Sephiroth, Youngest sibling of Pent uP Rage, Prarara the Great, Nerwen Carnesîr, TB666 and, Boudicca. In the great Family of the Black Prince
I wouldnt know Shades of Grey, i do know however Milo Manara comics he is actualy a very respected artist, he has great funny stuff.
He recently did a Marvel cover of spider woman that recieved alot of hate/love and buzz on the midia, for instance.
However from my "Vast experience" women are as dirty and nasty as man, only they are far more discreet... the things i heard woman saying with each other while talking about the Portuguese Hot jesus from the TV series, and the Son of God movie...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

A heads up guys, as i can see there being a potential issue here. When talking about content and topics considered adult- careful how you phrase things please, bearing in mind we're a PG-13 site and the ToS rules on promoting illegal activities (For minors in the case under US law where the servers are based).
I'm only going to say that once chaps.
Carry on.
Aside from the Asian fetishism (by the way did anyone else see Last Emperor?) I don't get why the court of Kublai looks so tribal. Doesn't Kublai need some imperial robes and things more befitting of an emperor. Instead he looks like a steppe bum.
Will all the episodes be available simultaneously?? I'm even more hyped for this series then.
I'm hoping its on the vein of Spartacus series. Despite the juvenile premise of pure bloodshed and sexual adventures, in my opinion Spartacus surprised me by its depth in characterization and most seasons had a great pacing (just the second one kinda fell flat until the end of the season).
I was really disappointed with Da Vinci's demons, however
That's what I was thinking. He styled himself as an emperor of a Chinese dynasty, the Yuan dynasty, after all, taking the posthumous title Shengde Shengong Wenwu (聖德神功文武皇帝) and the Temple Name of Shizu (世祖). The Nepalese artist Anige painted this portrait of Kublai showing him in a Chinese emperor's silken attire:
However, in this portrait he is clearly wearing his national Mongolian attire for one of royal status, a khan if you will:
Here he is out riding and hunting with his retinue, wearing a fur coat:

From what I remember from Conn Iggulden's books (maybe not 100% accurate ) Kublai liked to dress in chinese clothing, but during his brother's reign as khan he dressed in traditional mongol clothes.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...
LOL. The opening to this one was rather silly:
Apparently Brian Dennehy plays Kublai Khan in this 2007 movie. You know, the guy who played Chris Farley's dad in Tommy Boy. Silly.
I find this somewhat old documentary on Marco Polo not only very accurate but also entertaining. Plus, it has interviews with Morris Rossabi, whose biography on Kublai Khan was standard reading for my East Asian history course I took as an undergraduate student.
In fact, that's Rossabi's face you can see in the still shot frame of the video before you click it to start watching.

I agree that Rome and Vikings are better aspirations for this series
Perhaps I'm seeing through the lens of the final season, which, imho was the best. Now that you mention it, Spartacus lamenting his dead wife and Crixus + Naevia got kinda tiresome after a while.
Da Vinci's Demons I simply didn't find it interesting to watch. The "it's the illerminati!" conspiracy plot quickly put me off.

Wish he's taken some European with him for some culture clash, seems this is going to be more of a "Blank slate man learns how to be an Asian" ala Last Samurai.

Apparently this is all being filmed in Kazakhstan which is odd since I thought they would try to cash in on the Chinese market. Then again this is some Netflix stuff and not a film.
Judging from this featurette they seem to be exaggerating Marco Polo's place in the story. But looking at Wikipedia they have Princess Kokhachin and they have scenes where they're on the steppe in what appears to be a caravan. Marco Polo accompanied the caravan that escorted Princess Kokhachin to Persia so I'll bet that's going to be part of the story.
Also I found this picture which looks pretty cool.
