A few other Crusader films are Arn the Knight Templar and a docudrama from the BBC called Heroes and Villains which contains an episode about Richard the Lionheart. Other than that I'm not really sure.
I got a massive pet peeve against those Arn books. They have such an lopsided view of the crusades its almost surreal. Cruaders: Blubbering evil retards. Muslims: Saintlike.

All of his movies are entertaining.

I mostly watch miniseries about History now. They should have finished Rome properly instead of rushing it.

Yeah a large part of Rome season 2 was disappointing.
But I don't read Arn, I only saw like half of the movie so I really wouldn't know.

Cause Season 2 Rome went through MAJOR time skips, even more so then Rome Season 1.

Ya, I really wished they fleshed it out more.

I still think its an awesome show, the fella who played Cicero was great, same with Antony and Caesar.

@Ferd It looks pretty interesting alright. The "stronghold" game mode looks cool.

Might drop a few quid into it.

Braveheart is one of my favorite movies despite the lack of accuracy. The Patriot is just a fun movie. The some of the lines were forced and melodramtic.

I liked 1960s Alexander far more and that had its issues as well.
Platoon and JFK comes to mind. Platoon wasn't necessarily unhistorical, just unrealistic. It seems everything that happened in Vietnam happened to that one platoon.
JFK was based on a poppycock conspiracy theory about the assassination of Kennedy.

This is what I tell my students. If you want to be entertain watch all the movies you want, but if you want to learn history, then read a book. There are three movies I like showing; Revolution with Al Pacino (very accurate movie), Remember the Titans, and Luther.

I love Rome. I wish I could show some of the scenes of the show to my students. I just do not have the inclination to cut out the "dirty parts."
My understanding is that the production cost were prohibitive and (HBO I think) cut season two short. If you recall, they started a story arc with the Jewish assassin, but that abruptly ended.
I also like the Borgias, but it was less accurate than Rome by far. I am not sure why it got cancelled; I guess people do not like watching a homicidal Pope.

Wouldn't Waterloo be a good movie to show?

I've read it's not that bad historically compared to more modern movies.

In a lesson the movie has to add some value to the classroom instruction.
Revolution: shows the average person's experience during the war.
Last of the Mohicans: I have never shown the entire movie. I like the battle scenes. If I want my students to visualize how combat was like, it is pretty good.
Remember the Titans: I showed the movie as part of a lesson on the civil rights era and when I taught a lesson on inequality, specifically racial inequality. I usually don't show the movie in its entirely. Another good film is School Ties.
Luther is great for showing two things; the motivation behind Luther and the effect the printing press in his success.
Other Movies: Cultural Integration unit (My big fat Greek Wedding and Bend it like Beckam).
I also showed parts of Far and Away - Good for migration of immigrants (networking system, Immigrant working on the railroad and of course, the Oklahoma land rush)
There are also really good episodes of Quantum Leap.

That's the problem with History classes and film. The movies tend to be inaccurate so you have to show only clips. The documentaries are to boring for the average fella and the miniseries tend to be vulgar, although one of my teachers showed the scene in Rome with Cicero and Antony when Antony wanted to be governor of Gaul and Cicero just politically dominated him.

I think US Government teachers have it easy, tons of movies represent politics.

If you want a good war movie with a lesson in the end you should watch No man's land, it is set during the Bosnian war
Does a great job in showing the futility of war and people in general.

Yeah, it was fun to watch but I don't get why everyone thought it was pretty much the best film ever. It's the generic Marvel plot really, screwing around a bit, stuff gets serious, heroes get their arse kicked and are in the end victorious against a villain who is way more powerful than they are.

I really over hyped that, I left kinda disappointed.

The only two movies that I have really hyped this year have been Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Interstellar.

    Both lived up to it!
