    Default Hellenistic epithets

I know vanilla M2 had the feature of faction leaders getting various epithets, depending on how you played (or at least partly), such as the Malevolent, the Conqueror, etc.
Would there be a way to have that feature in EB2, but historical and, say, faction (or culture) specific? I found this interesting list of hellenistic epithets...

Yes, its actually not that difficult to add yourself, I think it involves only editing two files. export_descr_traits.txt and export_VnVs.txt in data/text.

Below is the bit in export_VNS.txt for assassins in med2
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    {Master_of_Assassins}Master of Assassins
{Master_of_Assassins_desc}Has recruited enough killers in his time to know the measure of a man almost immediately.
{Master_of_Assassins_gain_desc}This man's reputation as an employer of killers now strikes fear into many.
    {Master_of_Assassins_epithet_desc}the Killer
{Master_of_Assassins_effects_desc}-25% Agents Training Costs, +3 Fear, +2 Personal Security

and this is the entry in export_descr_traits.txt
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I would love that, I was hoping to see some come about in a longer campaign, but have not.

Here's a few highlights from that list.

Aniketos or Anicetus The Invincible. Seems to have been a common one. It's easy to see how a character could acquire this (A large number of victories won, with some number of bodyguard melee engagements, obviously survived.

Auletes The Flautist. I have a Baktrian general with a "Musician" as an ancillary and they're both quite happy....

Lathyros Chickpea. For those southern and eastern Mediterranean generals who sit in town with massive granaries/agriculture/market infrastructure and enormously grow fat.

    Philoromaeos or Philoromaeus
Lover of Rome. A man suspect to his own culture...

Here is a list of Hellenic epithets that I am working on in conjunction with another member.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    HELLENISTIC EPITHETS
    Aetos: ("The Eagle")
    Aniketos: ("The Invincible/Unconquered")
    Autokrator: ("The Supreme Ruler")
    Dikaios: ("The Just")
    Epiphanes ((God) Manifest; Illustrious)
    Euergetes ("The Benefactor")
    Eupator ("(Of A) Good Father")
    Eusebes: ("The Pious/Devout")
    Kallinikos ("Beautiful Victor")
    Keraunos ("Thunder")
    Ktistes ("Founder")
    Megas ("The Great")
    Nikator ("The Victor")
    Nikephoros ("The Victorious")
    Philadelphos (“brother-loving”)
    Philometor ("Mother-Loving")
    Philopator (“father-loving”)
    Philopatris: ("The Patriot")
    Poliorketes ("The Besieger")
    Soter ("Savior")
    Theios: ("The Divine")
Theopator: ("Of a Divine Father/Of Divine Descent")
    Theotropos: ("Similar to Dios")
    Tryphon ("The Magnificent")
The most difficult thing is to come up with suitable triggers for some of these epithets. Darkan, that is a very good list and it will be used to include some of the more common epithets and cut out some of the less common ones. Some of the above may not be included based on the number of times it was actually used, or if the person had the epithet given to them after death.

Most of the translations came from Arjos, but I will double check everything as they get completed. Below is a quote from the wikipedia article on Ptolemy Keraunos.
Ptolemy Keraunos (Greek: Πτολεμαῖος Κεραυνός, died 279 BC) was the King of Macedon from 281 BC to 279 BC. His epithet Keraunos is Greek for "Thunder" or "Thunderbolt"
Some epithets such as 'Aetos' or Eagle will be given rarely, in this case this epithet will be given to Pyrrhos at the start of the game.

Here are some screenshots of a few Faction Leaders that should start the game with epithets.

I spy with my little eye... new units, unit cards and ancilliaries...

EDIT: Somewhat more on-topic: I believe 'ktistes' was a title also granted to the founders to poleis in Hellenistic times (please correct me if I'm wrong about that), so perhaps the trigger could be related to the upgrading or building of poleis buildings? (Thanks, Cohors_Obvious. ) E.g. upgrade a Hellenistic polis to a metropolis in a city where the FL is present.

They're pretty accurate, except for the last one, Tryphon. I'd translate it as "Soft", not "Magnificent". It looks like a demeaning epithet (e.g. Demetrius III Eucaerus-Well Timed, being called Acaerus-The Untimely One), but the usurper Diodotus chose it on purpose, as the fed up with civil wars Syrians looked forward to a new ruler preoccupied with materialistic pleasures and not with foreign adventures. After all, that's why the last Seleucid coins depict the monarchs as lazy and chubby.

From the research I have conducted thus far, only one king or basilieus in the Hellenistic era had the Ktistes epithet and that was Mithridates I Ktistes, the founder of the Pontic Kingdom. These epithets will be reserved for Faction Leaders only, so their use will be limited. Some Hellenic (to include Pontos and Parthia) FLs may never receive an epithet, in time as other cultures get researched, additional epithets along with appropriate triggers will be made. An additional note on the visible ancillaries in the above screenshots. Those ancillaries are not (yet...... ) part of EB II but will be available in b0gia's Submod which will be released when the next full version of EB II is released.

The following traits Philadelphos (“brother-loving”), Philometor ("Mother-Loving"), Philopator (“father-loving”), while sounding strange to modern or non Greek speaking ears, were actually very common epithets in this period. Especially amongst the Ptolemies and Seleukids. Below is a screenshot of the Pontic FL I forgot to include earlier.

Or a shirt that says, Incest is Best (which in the case of the Ptolemies is not far off the mark). I think in the descriptions that the wording will be arranged in a way that these negative connotations aren't quite the first thing people think of.

Google has proven its worth once more, for I can now name two other royal figures bearing the epithet of 'ktistes'! These being Pacorus I of Parthia and Archelaus of Cappadocia. I've also looked for a few definitions of the term and one site I found notes that the title was used to denote the founders of cities, but during Hellenistic times it was also used for founders of games and other public institutions. I cannot speak for the meaning of the title in the cases of the figures I noted above, however. Perhaps they did indeed connect themselves to a (re-?)foundation of their states, as in the case of Mithridates, but I don't have any evidence either way at the moment. All in all this post probably doesn't really add anything substantial to the discussion, but I thought I'd post what I found anyway.

On a side note: did you mean the team is going to include the ancillaries from b0gia's Submod in the regular mod at some point or are you going to rework them (or do something completely different on that front)?
