Prince Zachary Arryn entered the field, and found himself between a rock and a hard place. When he looked to the left, he saw his friend Baelish. Even though Baelish was technically in his service, the prince knew he didn't stand a chance against the hardened mercenary. On his right was a possibly even scarier sight to behold. A Greyjoy. Bloody raiders competing in tourneys, and then people wondered why chivalry is dead. He gripped his greatsword tightly with two hands, and looked to his right. He had made up his mind. "Greyjoy!" He shouted. "I heard your mother was a Salt Wife!"
    Zachary Arryn vs. Quellon Greyjoy

Aurane looked across the field, seeing his brother Zachary already getting himself into big trouble. He couldn't hear the exact words, but Aurane knew him long enough to know they weren't nice. He didn't know either of the men next to him, to be fair. He tossed a coin in his mind, and came to the conclusion that he should probably fight the man with the smaller sword. He turned to his left. "Your name, good Ser," he shouted to Ser Thom Bulwer. He gripped his sword tightly, and looked at the straps of his kite shield.

[Donnel Lefford (2) (+3 Duels, +3 Survival) attacks Manfred Lothson (6) (+1 Duels, +2 Survival)]

Donnel strode towards Lothson, who had also turned to face the challenger. Saying nothing, Donnel lunged forwards at the man's mid-section, which Lothson easily parried, but Donnel did not recoil, rather following through and letting his shoulder collide roughly with Lothson's chest, forcing the man back and winding him. An uppercut swing followed the move, which Lothson sloppily parried while regaining his footing after the strike, but there was no respite: another swing followed the first, with both blades colliding and staying together as both men bore their weight down on their blades. Eager to maintain the momentum, Donnel's mailed fist smashed into Lothson's cheek, ending the locking of blades and sending Lothson stumbling back once more.

[OOC: Alexandrine can respond now if she pleases. Donnel's fighting style is brutal and aggressive: he's young and fit, so uses his strength and stamina in an attempt to overwhelm his opposition. Being Raymar's son, he's also not at all honourable or chivalric, and he'll punch, shove and kick to win.]

    "Ser Thom Bulwer, and yours?"

Bulwer's helm, that covered all of his face, was painted red, the colour of blood and of his family.

Aurane banged on his shied with his dull longsword. "Aurane Arryn! May the best man win!" He assumed a defensive stance, shield in front of him, sword sticking out, and waited for Ser Bulwer to make the first move. Duels had never quite been Aurane's strongest point, but he sure as hell was going to make the knight in front of him work for it.

Damon grinned to himself as he loosened up with a few lazy swings of his sword. This was it. This was what he had come for. He would prove himself before all the ladies of the realm. He looked around him, noticing a man who was most obviously some sort of Royalty. He looked Targaryen, or Blackfyre; they were the same when it came down to it.

    "Ser, your name?"

He advanced on the man before he could pick someone else to fight.

He saw the brat across the field. The traitor's whelp was across the field. They were seperated by too many, so, disgusted, he turned away from the boy. Instead, he focussed his eyes on some knight who had an unknown sigil on his shield.

"You'll do," he declared, advancing on the man even as the call to begin rang out.

Quellon's eyes were narrowed and flitted across the grounds, so many knighs... All the more reason to feel at ease, he was a buccaneer and a quickfooted fencer. As he was sizing up Baelish or a dragon, the Arryn swordsman called him out.
"That taunt better suits a tavern than a prince, luckily I have had more than my share of tavern fights. I will try not to kill you." He smiled, raised his slim blade before his face in salute and then pounced, his cloak in his other hand as a shield or as one might bait a bull. He remembered what his father had charged him with, to allow the Iron Islands at least one small victory where they had neither chivalry nor etticette.

Aurane, slightly fazed by the warcry, backs off a few steps trying to take the speed out of the charge. He suddenly stands his ground, putting all his power into his shield.

The prince knew he would have to go on the offensive. A greatsword is no weapon to patiently wait for your opponent to strike. "Oh, I'll believe you right away when you tell me you spend most of your time in a tavern!" He rushed forward, opening the fight with a feint charge into a backhand slash.

"My name? Ser Bracken that's the last you'll hear! For I'm Aerion Brightflame!"

Aerion laughed inside his black helmet. His shield emblazoned a three-headed dragon. His tabard was colored like flames, red, orange and yellow. His armor was purely black, with the sole exception of his fiery crest. Aerion wielded a morningstar, vicious, even if it lacked spikes that could maim or kill another duelist. He swung it around with a fearsome sound. Aerion charged forward, roaring.

Maekar Targaryen stands between Lord Rickon Blackwood and Ser Osgrey. He remembered the last time he was here, facing challengers from across the realm during the early reign of King Daemon I. He pondered on who would challenge or who to challenge. Nonetheless, Maekar desired to fight again. He had long isolated himself in Summerhall and it was time to stretch his good sword arm.

Argus Baelish noticed Zachary Arryn launch into battle almost immediately. It was the opportune time to strike the Prince whilst he was focused on the Greyjoy, any other man and Argus would have happily done it, his time at the Vale however had given him a soft spot for the Arryns so he turned his attention to Donnel Lefford, he'd heard rumours of the Lefford, few good. As Argus advanced he couldn't help but notice the "knightly" manner that many combatants fought with. Argus did not hack like a Westerosi knight, when Argus wielded a blade he danced. Argus advanced towards the Lefford who was preoccupied "first catch of the day" he thought as he swung his blade hoping to catch Lefford off guard.

The Knight stood there silent and readied himself for the assault. Age had not dulled the force the knight could put behind the swing of a blade. Otho's blade clashed against his shield and the Red Knight brought his blade down hard but Otho was quick on his feet and the blow did not find its mark. The Knight steadied his feet and swung once more at Otho.

Leo drew his sword and turned right, facing the Ser Jon of Ashford. An infamous knight among the many tournaments throughout the realm, this man had most likely fought his way through all of the Seven Kingdoms. How wonderful to meet such an opponent, Leo Reyne thought, raising his shield and moving closer to the Knight of Ashford. The thrill of the battlefield filled the red lion's very being, but he reminded himself to keep a calm head. Warriors from the whole realm had traveled to King's Landing for the chance to receive the honor, glory and prize from the king himself. They would not be easy pushovers like the bandits Leo had hunted in the mountains of the Westerlands. The red lion grinned under his helm.

    "The lion's claws!"

He took a step forward, thrusting forward with his sword. The Knight of Ashford jabbed it to the right before slashing from above. Leo blocked with his shield and followed up with another attack from the side. Then they were off, continuing their battle while blocking out the rest of the participants and the cheers from the crowd.

The heavy twohander was a bonebreaker in a match like this, one hit could smash skull, collarbone, jaw... Or take the legs from under him. But it was so slow. As the charge turned into a different tack, he saw the wind change and nimbly ducked under the wide swing and tried to get inside of the sword, there he lunged with his rapier aiming for the underbelly which may be too low to block with a defensive forearm parry. He hoped a stab to the gut would cut him enough to bring him down and out. "The benefit of tavern brawls..." He said as he danced "is they teach you to truly fight not just thump armour or straw men on the hastiludes."

First time in a tourney and I'm to choose between Maekar Targaryen himself, and an some fancy knight in a red armor.

    "Fear is the mind killer,"
his father had told him, as his grandfather before used to say, but he had never paid too much attention to such things. In combat all philosophy and so called meditation went down hill, he thought, and all he could do was feel the sword in his hand, and do his best to avoid getting sliced in two. No time to analyze his feelings. He could, however, analyze the enemy's preferences, and come up with a strategy. Too bad he had arrived to the capital the night before, and had not had time to watch the others fight. And so he though: Who would I rather fight without knowledge of him... a famed warrior that is known to be lethal, or the pompous idiot who would choose a name as ridiculous as "Moon Knight"?

While hesitating, he decided to take his chances with the fool, and let someone else take care of Maekar. He only hoped his decision would not make come back to him, in the form of a massive blow from the back, as he still struggled with his chosen opponent...

    (Ser Osgrey: +2 duels)

Rickon Blackwood examines the combatants from under his helm. Sweat trickles down his brow. This was the first time Rickon was fighting in an actual tournament. His heart was pounding as he chose his target. He hefts his blunted long sword and charges towards Aerion Brightflame with a roar.

For the duels, I used a duel excel calculator made by Poach to roll all of the duels out. Since transferring all of the data from the calculator to a word doc and in the correct formatting is going to be tedious (especially for ones that went four to eight rounds) I will only show starting HP, end HP, number of rounds, and the winner.

    Zachary Arryn vs. Quellon Greyjoy

    Arryn Starting HP: 20
    Greyjoy Starting HP: 20

    Arryn Ending HP: 5
    Greyjoy Ending HP: 0

    Number of Rounds: 4

    Winner: Prince Zachary Arryn

    Aurane Arryn vs. Thom Bulwer

    Arryn Starting HP: 20
    Bulwer Starting HP: 20

    Arryn Ending HP: 0
    Bulwer Ending HP: 15

    Number of Rounds: 3

    Winner: Ser Thom Bulwer

    Donnel Lefford vs. Manfred Lothston

    Lefford Starting HP: 20
    Lothston Starting HP: 20

    Lefford Ending HP: 15
    Lothston Ending HP: 0

    Number of Rounds: 4

    Winner: Donnel Lefford

    Damon Tarth vs. Aerion Brightflame

    Tarth Starting HP: 20
    Brightflame Starting HP: 20

    Tarth Ending HP: 9
    Brightflame Ending HP: 0

    Number of Rounds: 6

    Winner: Damon Tarth

    Otho Bracken vs. Mystery Knight

    Bracken Starting HP: 20
    Mystery Knight Starting HP: 20

    Bracken Ending HP: 0
    Mystery Knight Ending HP: 10

    Number of Rounds: 6

    Winner: Mystery Knight

Leo Reyne vs. John of Ashford

    Reyne Starting HP: 20
    Ashford Starting HP: 20

    Reyne Ending HP: 14
    Ashford Ending HP: 0

    Number of Rounds: 3

    Winner: Leo Reyne

    Maekar Targaryen vs. Ser Osgrey

    Targaryen Starting HP: 20
    Osgrey Starting HP: 20

    Targaryen Ending HP: 7
    Osgrey Ending HP: 0

    Number of Rounds: 8

    Winner: Maekar Targaryen

OOC: Blackwood and Baelish attacks reserved for later rolls since rolling a 2 v 1 is very difficult.

He was already in too close, the blade was stopped. Perhaps he should have hopped back, but he was eager and his blood was up, he hopped up over the swing to avoid the cut, as he jumped he threw out his black cloak over the prince's face. It worked in most duels, but that was not against men in armour. "In taverns ...as in life... there are no rules!"

The prince, confused by being blinded all of a sudden, hacked blindly with his sword and then stepped back, trying to pull the coat off of his head. He threw it on the ground, making sure he stepped on it. "I hope you didn't like that cloak," he said, suddenly charging forward with his shoulder, trying to throw the Greyjoy off balance.
