Thread: RS2 more stable than EB?

  1. #1

Default RS2 more stable than EB?

I'm about to give up on EB I, the after battle CTD is killing my desire to play despite trying basically everything.

I'd like to know if RS2 is anymore stable when it comes to after battle (specifically heroic victories or large battles that involve reinforcements) CTD's because I'd still like to play RTW. I know the problem is with RTW itself and not EB, but perhaps RS2 manages it better.

Any info regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

RS2 tends to be more stable. I have fought many massive battles without issues.

Part of what happens is due to the amount of scripting EB uses, if I recall correctly (also causes long turn times). RS2 also has scripting, but less.

Disconnect from the internet and turn off Anti-Virus.

RTW was written in a much nicer age. I suspect this may solve many of your EB issues too.

i´ve also got alot of ctd with EB1, but RSII it´s really rare and tend to none.
what nearly stops them for me, was the unconventional .exe fix and an optimization of graphics.

As far as I know EB is laggy (dunno if for everyone) on campaign map. Anyway, if I am right, EB was not updated since 2008 - compared to RS sounds like a stone age ;P.

The issue with EB is the scripted named characters which can easily end up getting cloned by the game. If a cloned named characters dies, it causes a CTD at the end of a battle.

Do the scripts also slow down the game and frame rates?

They can slow turn end significantly but there is a slimmed down version

regarding those EB CTDs. try waiting for music to stop after the battle. like some 30 sec. Also, install it outside of program files folder. I have CTD every 40-50 turns which is quite satisfactory.
