Thread: Graphics issues

    Default Graphics issues

Was going to post this over in the Shogun 2 forum but I suppose it's more appropriate here.

I was wondering if someone could suggest any fixes to a couple of issues I've been having. My specs are as follows:

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    AMD Radeon 7870 2GB
    2X4GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

I was planning on buying Shogun 2 while it's on sale on Steam but the graphics it is showing me in the demo don't look too great. I was under the impression my PC should be able to run this game fine. The CPU/GPU fan (think it's the latter) is also making a lot of noise in battle and on the (tutorial) campaign map. Here be a screenshot:

Everything looks sort of... dark. Or is it supposed to be like that? Tried playing around with the graphics settings in game but nothing seems to do much good. It is, however, not just this demo giving me bother. The graphics for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition (which is a game that demands a whole lot less of a PC) are also all kinds of wrong, with backgrounds becoming almost wholly black:

...leading me to believe there is some wider issue here. Any ideas? AMD Catalyst Control seems to be update along with my drivers. I'm stumped.

I have a bit lower specs than you and i can max shogun..try to adjust the brightness if you think it's too dark and , for an increased framerate , turn off the shadows.
    As of Witcher..i don't know.

You need to measure the average fps you're getting on your resolution type on full graphical settings. Only then we would be able to know where the problem lies.
HD 7870 should handle those games easily.

From what i am seeing it looks to be a corrupted Driver install for the GPU

    or

Direct X needs to be reinstalled.

Yep, that's what I think too.
