General Blue died though, Colonel Silver might have survived, his faith is uncertain. Could also have been interesting if he had returned during the android saga. Heck, they could have had him as an android instead of android 19. That would have been pretty cool, especially since then he'd be the one to beat up a sick Goku.

Sadly few things of Dragonball ever get to make a come back. Not even Launch got to return, I kind of wished they'd bring her back with Super. She was a great character.

Yeah... Yeah... Pretty crazy how strong 17 has gotten though. Fighting SSB and still holding back some? How many pushups did he do? What kind of juice did he drink?

Yeah this is pretty rediculous. Watching wildlife should not increase his power that much because he wouldn't really need to use any of it. Even Bora could beat that army.

And seriously.. an army of poachers? Why would they keep trying for so long and still be surprised by the result? They should know 17 can't be destroyed by now.
Those space pirates will be some dumb filler too, and naturally again its rediculous looking enemies.

Might be fitting if they'd put Bora on that island to watch over it while 17 is at the tournament though. He'd protect it. Yamcha might be oddly suitable too since he did live in the desert for quite a while and is used to wildlife. Chiao-Tsu could do it too, I'm sure he cares about animals since he seems pretty innocent.
Heck any competitor from Dragonball might be able to beat armies of poachers.

He could just be training hard, regardless of it's actual use. Besides, Goku was just holding back. And as far as the poachers, I can see it as an escalation of hostilities; The poachers try and kill the bull thing, fail, come back with more men, fail again, come back with more, so on and so forth.

What bothers me about the space pirates is that it is so stupidly convenient bordering on idiotic.

Well they try to cram in too much in each episode, they never let it breathe. Sure Dragonball Z often took a bit long, but they where able to build up tension and give nice quiet moments too.

The worst thing is that from now on every videogame will be filled with trash from Super likely at the expense from stuff from Z and related movies. Super has its moments, but it still feels like it would have been better if they just let it be and never made those new movies or Super.

This is just filler so they don't really care. Seeing as the manga is still on the Zamasu arc they are making time to actually start the tournament while still having enough material to keep the story moving without any interruptions in the middle of any of the crucial stuff. It seems like the manga will be far behind the show now, even though at the start of the Champa arc the manga was actually a little bit ahead.

To be fair to 17 he has had 10 years to train. More than that he is a cyborg (jinzo ningen) that has unlimited energy. Meaning that he probably never gets tired (or at least takes much longer to tire) and so can train and fight an unlimited amount. Much like how in his fight with Piccolo he probably would have won eventually as Piccolo would have tired much quicker.

I wish they did something similar with that Toppo force. They just look foolish though, while the Ginyu Force still makes for a legitimate threat and for very interesting characters that can actually be pretty intimidating despite their team poses and such.

Recoome is a prime example of that. A sadistic brute who seems to enjoy the violence, even against kids while doing a pose before each attack.

One of the most ridiculous episodes that I have ever seen. So much happened in a filler episode which is just odd. Next episode is Gohan training.

The Dragon Balls seem to be more a source of evil than a source for good. Almost everyone who used the Dragon Balls or searched for them wanted them for greed. The exception was Goku who for the first time he was allowed to use them brought back Oopa's father, who was killed by Tao Pai Pai. Emperor Pilaf wanted to rule the world, Bulma wanted a hot guy, Oolong wanted money, Yamcha wanted to get over his fear of women, the Red Ribbon Army was willing to kill anyone to find them in order to either rule the world or make Commander Red taller, Demon King Piccolo wanted to become young and powerful again, Vegeta wanted immortality as did Frieza. It was really only later that Vegeta decided he could better accomplish his goals as a Super Saiyan and to be fair his goals shifted. Cell never wanted them to begin with because he had no need for them. Piccolo either did not want them because he already had its powers from when he was Demon King Piccolo (according to Daizenshuu 2 the wish passed on to him) or because he never wanted them anyway as that was not so much in line with his character. Zamasu used them for immortality or power but anyone else can just ignore them because they are either too powerful to care or are gods and do not need them at all.

Really the reason for the Dragon Balls seems to be the most interesting part. Kami (God) cannot affect the on-goings of the Earth due to the repercussions or because he simply does not have the power to do so. He also cannot kill Demon King Piccolo, his evil counterpart, because it would result in his own death. So in this respect Kami is more of a prisoner than a god. He can neither protect the Earth nor solve the suffering and chaos. When he became god the previous deity only conceded to the request when Kami removed the evil from himself which severely weakened him, this evil became Demon King Piccolo. In a way all the suffering is Kami's own fault or a result of his inability to stop it. He is basically a useless god and his heavenly palace is more or less a prison from where he can helplessly watch the suffering. To solve this issue he created the Dragon Balls and the eternal dragon Shenlong so that the Earthlings would solve their own problems. Instead the Earthlings succumbed to greed and evil so that even Kami considered getting rid of the Dragon Balls as he thinks that throughout the ages they did more harm than good. At the end it is only Goku's willingness to help others and his selfless wish to resurrect those who were killed that Kami decides that the Dragon Balls can do some good. But that is not to say that Goku is not selfish, rather his interests were never in line with greed and power. Due to his very nature he is pure hearted and his selfishness is not directly detrimental. When Goku demonstrated his power and became "the world's strongest" Kami decided to have Goku become God. This was a role to which Goku was ill suited and outright rejected this offer. But ultimately Kami was willing to make a sacrifice by asking Goku to kill him in order to also kill Piccolo. Later on he forfeited his freedom and godhood by deciding to rejoin with Piccolo in order to create the forgotten being that once was so that he might try to defeat the man made abomination known as Cell. As Kami himself puts it "this world no longer requires a god, it needs a warrior". In this way Demon King Piccolo and Kami became one yet again, which is in line with the Buddhist maxim "good and evil are the same path" (essentially that good and evil are mere illusions, or at least that there is no way to separate one from the other). The Dragon Balls are only a manifestation of this idea. Good and evil, greed and selflessness, power and weakness, God and man: they are not easily defined on their own and much more complex concepts than people give them credit.

Now this was actualy a nice episode, with a few trowbacks. And finaly we see Gohan re-acquiring his powers... SSJ 2 and Mystic ... and they are hinting he can go even futher... curious to see it... maybe something akin to Blue Raging like Trunks did??!!

Also it is just me of Picollo and gohan had a "DOGE!!!!" moment in there?

Any way it was a nice training session with some Nostalgic stuff in there. ( The T-rex tail was nice)

And LOL at yamcha...

We finaly get a sneek peek at Caulifla (Female Broly). As in Cauliflower....
And Cabba former Captain was kinda funny imo.

Next episode its Tien and his dojo and was that his girlfriend?

And whats up with Roshi going berserk?

Anyway It was a great moment at least....

So why doesn't that other Saiyan, Renso, go with Cabbe? Just cause he got a bad leg? Don't they know that Vados or the Supreme Kai of Universe 6 could probably heal his leg? Let's see Cabbe, Caulifla, Hitto, Frost, Magetta, Botamo... that is still only 6 fighters so they would need another 4. Chances are we will see Renso (Spinach) in the tournament and maybe even the king of planet Sadla.

Gohan goes Mystic and gets his cool haircut back. Piccolo thinks he can get stronger in less than a day? Piccolo seemed to have no trouble at all fighting SS1 Gohan meaning that Piccolo must be on Perfect Cell's level at least, if not much stronger.

So is Roshi really strong now? If the next episode has Roshi and Tien does that mean we get to see Launch??? Please, I just want to see Launch again!

Are they saiyans? I find the fact that they don't have tails increasingly annoying, I get why the earth Saiyans lack them and I have grown to understand that fact, but these other guys are ostensibly humans then. Have their tails wrap around their freakin waists if your to lazy to animate them...

Also call me crazy but I'm pretty sure cauliflower or whatever isn't the broly surrogate, she looks nothing like the one in the intro. Interesting that they are adding two female saiyans though. Maybe she is the Goku of universe 6 to Cabba's Vegeta?

These are basically good natured Saiyans so that means they don't have tails as a sort of theme. But the show's explanation is that they evolved differently somehow. The real reason is probably that Toriyama as well as the animators don't like drawing tails.

Not sure about Caulifla, if that is not the one from the intro then the one in the intro must be a Pride Trooper.
Though this Saiyan girl's design looks very much like some of the artwork he did for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger.

He defeated Gohan while he was in SS2 by sufocating him ... and he kinda defeated him in his mystic form too , by being tricky, tough.....

I would raking Piccolo in the level or superior of a SS2... not stronger then mystic however.

I would hope Piccolo is at least SS2 levels of power. I'm kind of hoping that he is stronger than that. Though this sparring match against Gohan and his fight with Frost I think really demonstrates how Piccolo gains an advantage using nothing but strategic thinking, crazy techniques, the element of surprise and tactical ability.

Which is nice to see since strategy rarely seemed to be a feature in DBZ.

And I guess alternate Saiyans not having tails is symbolic of their lack of savagery?
