did a quick research on wiki

The Seleucid cavalry, after the introduction of the Cataphract, can be sub-divided into several categories. Firstly, there were the heavy cavalry of which there were Kataphraktoi (armoured) and Aphraktoi (unarmoured). The Aphraktoi were divided into two groups, lancer and missile troops. The lancers, who performed the job of heavy cavalry before the Cataphract, were known by numerous names, for example dorataphoroi, sarissaphoroi, kontophoroi, xystophoroi and lonchophoroi.

Xystophoroi and lonchophoroi were mentioned specifically by Titus Flamininus whilst in discussion with the Achaeans.[33] The light cavalry was used to skirmish, so troops such as those that fought in the Tarentine style were common within this category, although there were numerous native contingents too.

when reading this i think there where several type of spears used by cav.but what spear the lonchoporoi used is not clear.probably a spear like the dory

    @Ownager don't need to correct you,if it's in EB it's the truth

The kontos (Greek: κοντός) was the Greek name for a type of long wooden cavalry lance used by Iranian, especially Achaemenid successors' cavalry, most notably cataphracts.

Heh: "assuming the lance survived the initial impact intact, it was (depending on the lance) usually too long, heavy and slow to be effectively used against opponents in a melee."

Tell that to all the RS2 lancers...

I just switch to swords anyway, when cavalry is in melee.

I was going to say the same thing. Either that, or pull out and charge again.

Not if your melee is such that you're right up against the other person.

So then swords are still the better option over spears.

It's funny to watch the Parthian Armored Bodyguard using their massive lances, the weapon is clipping through all the hoplites attacking him of course, to attack someone quite a distance away.

To keep this on topic, is contagious disloyalty possible? I noticed that whenever my move a general into this prison camp I made for disloyal generals, his loyalty goes down really low. This happens any time a loyal general meets an unloyal general. Within two turns I filled up my camp with disloyal people, and all my legions save one were under recruited generals. I don't want my entire family to be ruined by this, but their tasty ancillaries can't be allowed to the grave with them can they?

A bunch of neagitve loyalty traits are triggered by among other things, having a trait yourself, and the faction leader having the Imperator trait.. eg:
    Trigger Imperial_Jealousy_53
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

    Condition FactionType romans_brutii
    and FactionLeaderTrait Imperator = 1
    and Trait Conquerer_of_Belgae > 0

    Affects Imperial_Jealousy 1 Chance 4
There are a lot of possible things, so your generals might all be rolling repeatedly to see if they become jealous.

But I had a 6 ring general turn to a two ring WITHIN the turn. He goes in loyal, comes out disloyal.

No, in fact I was removing ancillaries from the disloyal generals and rewarding my loyal ones, but nooooooo.

Hm. And did this happen to improve the loyalty of the disloyal generals?

You know what put up a save file that you can immediately load and move a general and observe this effect in.
